Players consistently praise Orbyss as a thoughtfully designed puzzle game with excellent presentation, creative mechanics, and well-paced difficulty that introduces new elements smoothly across its chapters. Common complaints center on the game's minimalist approach to tutorials and narrative, which some find refreshing while others find frustrating, and occasional difficulty spikes in later chapters that can feel unbalanced compared to the earlier puzzles. The optional achievement puzzles are widely appreciated for adding replayability and challenge, though some players feel they represent a

Only an hour in, but loving this game so far! Reminds me a LOT of The Last Cube, which has similar aesthetics, similar fun puzzle platformer mechanics, and similar optimization challenges.

🔸 EXPECTATIONS: a simple rolling-ball puzzle game. 🔸 REALITY: a minimalistic rolling-ball puzzle game. 🔷 Orbyss is a 3D puzzle platformer with no jumping, where the player controls an orb that can give commands to other balls, or switch command entirely with them in certain cases. It's all very minimalistic, from the range of actions to the visual design, music and specially narrative. 🔹 Being all that minimal can make one think it might be a shallow or dull game, but it's not the case. If puzzles is what matter, they're very well layered, adding new elements in each of the 8 chapters. Levels can be solved 'imperfectly', or in an optimal way, which unlocks in-game achievements. 🔹 Be aware that besides moving things around the level, Orbyss also includes different types of puzzles that involve sound, if that can be an issue. It can take around 8 hours to complete, and probably beyond the 10h including the bonus levels released after launch. 🔹 The visuals, while nice and appealing initially, let me down a bit by the end for its lack of variation and/or narrative development. The story, though, is told without text nor dialogue, completely relying on the action and the compe…

Nice little puzzle game with a good progression of new mechanics. Only takes a couple hours first time through, but I think it's worth going back to do the challenges for each stage since the new constraints usually require rethinking your approach.

The game isn't bad, but the whole feels very monotonous from start until the end. There is a plot, but it's kind of whatever. The sound based puzzles were frustrating even with the visual aid, as you still needed to go to each individual ring to see which part of the sequence the ring is.

Orbyss is a beautifully crafted puzzle adventure developed and published by Misty Whale that demonstrates how thoughtful design and creative mechanics can transform a simple concept into an unforgettable experience. Set within a mysterious world of glowing structures, ancient technology, and spreading darkness, the game invites players to solve increasingly intricate puzzles while gradually uncovering the secrets of a fragile digital ecosystem. Rather than relying on action or spectacle, Orbyss builds its identity around logic, experimentation, and exploration, resulting in a puzzle journey that feels both intellectually rewarding and emotionally engaging. The foundation of the gameplay revolves around a unique mechanic that allows players to control and switch between multiple Orbs. These energy-based entities serve as both the protagonists and the primary tools used to overcome obstacles. What makes the concept particularly compelling is how the game encourages players to think about cooperation even though the experience is entirely single-player. Many puzzles require careful coordination between different Orbs, creating situations that resemble solving cooperative challenges w…
