Investigate the recently condemned High Rock Hotel in this mystery horror expedition. As Lin Wei, a woman who can turn just about anything into a weapon, you will uncover the disappearance of your father.
It has been a week since Lin has last heard from her father, the only thing she has left of his is a letter postmarked from his last known location - The High Rock Hotel - and his walkie-talkie. With her, she brings her transformed camera which she has turned into an electrical killer beam of deadly destruction.
The High Rock Hotel should be desolate, the halls ringing with silence, but something strange is lurking within its depths. At every turn, terrifying monsters will stalk your every step.
Lin will need to evade threats, use careful foresight when her weapon - the Polaris - needs to recharge, and piece together the mystery her father left her in his journal. From there, Lin will go on an adventure discovering cassette tapes and begin unravelling the mystery of the disappearances at the High Rock Hotel.

Origin Unknown is a fairly basic collection of assets arranged into a first person shooter/adventure game, one of many hundreds, if not thousands of these glutting Steam. The "developer" got their hands on a few 3D asset store packs and models, arranged them haphazardly in a first person adventure game template, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. The only thing that prevents this from being classified as an asset flip is the developer isn't trying to cash in on the uncredited use of other people's assets by arranging them with as little effort as possible into a minimum viable product. However, the quality here is indistinguishable from an asset flip, and that's what this is all about... whether this game represents any real value for gamers. It doesn't. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. You just run around some hotel(?), do some lightweight, buggy, badly assembled adventure stuff and shoot some aliens. Bad narration, MOVE SLOW AS ♥♥♥♥, insufferable default audio options. Zapped the first two monsters in the needlessly enormous lobby then got bored and quit.
Feels very much like a first attempt at a game. The graphical mismatch between the monsters and the environment was what eventually made me not recommend the game. It's just very inconsistent. The voice acting is really nice, but the environments aren't suited for a horror game, as rooms are big and too bright and hallways are predicable and not moody. The aesthetic choices are very questionable.
