Surprised Steam is letting me review this. This was on a free weekend at one point and while I'm all for a game that celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride (haven't been keeping up with the current acronym), the main thing I remember from this is input delays so horrendous that I'm glad that I didn't pay anything to even touch the game.

Meh. The art lacks coherent direction and is a mess. Size of the pixels themselves and the color palette of textures are all too varied, boss battle sprites look like they were done by 4 different people who tried to do their own thing and in weird colors. It's almost like someone back in 1991 originally drew them to use in Commodore 64 or something. And jpeg artifacts are commonly seen and give the game unpolished rushed look. Should've stuck with cleaner, simpler small sprites like how McPixel games did, the general graphics would've been a lot prettier had they chosen to follow that path. The game itself is nothing special. It offers two modes: Vanilla and Play Hard. In Vanilla you mash the displayed buttons at the right moment, typical rhythm game stuff. Play Hard mode is a bit different, you'll need to select between your assigned groups and attract people on the sidewalk to grow the size of your parade and defend them from hate groups by... mashing the displayed buttons at the right moment. You have to constantly switch and move the groups around and in all honesty, I felt this mode is way too tedious, you barely have any moment to rest your fingers till the song ends. But …

Starting with the most important information: I do recommend this game because it's enjoyable, but there's currently a game-breaking bug. The penultimate level in Play Hard mode always locks up at the end; this locks out the final level and several achievements. Caveat emptor. (Also it seems the Buenos Aires level on Vanilla, Vicious difficulty, doesn't record scores. Not sure currently whether this affects achievements or not.) Pride Run is genuinely fun, colourful, amusing and has a great soundtrack. "Vanilla" mode is a straightforward rhythm-matching game. "Play Hard" mode, which revolves around rearranging parade groups and using their special abilities, is the Dark Souls of LGBTQ+ rhythm games. I cannot overstress how difficult it can be until you finally get the hang of using shields and conserving the best abilities for when it counts. Sadly I suspect that as the game is several years old now, the aforementioned bug won't be fixed. Will update review if it is.
