Puzzle Battler! Mirai

Cute, colorful and clever puzzle game that is a sort of blend between a match-4 puzzle, a RPG and a board game. It's kind of difficult to describe, and at first it feels disorienting, but when you finally understand it's fun and enjoyable. Basically stages are turn-based battles where you don't attack enemies directly, but have to match in a grid 6 kinds of items: 3 kinds of color gems, fairy gems, hearts and money. More matches deal more damage to enemies so moving the gems correctly to chain matches is a must. The 3 colors are mana that can be used to activate during the battle 3 different kinds of spells (attack, protection, healing etc.), that can be dropped by defeated enemies. Fairy gems are EXP used to level up these spells outside of battle. Hearts heal damage during battle. Money is used in the "board game" part to improve the stats of our character (damage, health, luck), and also to unlock challenges and the keys to the major boss stages, that lead to more spells. There's more to it but these are the basics. Even as some that's usually very bad a puzzle titles, it's a lot of fun to mix and match skills to match my play style

Got this game on sale and am having a great time so far even though I am awful at this genre. Does exactly what it says on the box. Feels like a child of match 3 and Poyu-Puyo. You move blocks around like a match 3 but have to set up combos like Puyo-Puyo as 5, 6 or 7 size matches don't give any bonus but combos do. If you're looking for pure match 3, this aint it. Nice music, nice art. Is a bit grindy. Definitely worth a shot on sale if you're interested in this kind of gameplay. Full price is also reasonable as there is at least 6+ hours of "main story"

Good game. Story: A comedy about indebted princesses, who were kidnapped. Mira who is also in debt pretty much has to go out and save them to help pay her debt, System: It is a matching game, where four creates a clear. Depending on the orb, you can either gather skill energy, gold, or XP. Skills are unlocked through getting chests, and exclusive ones through beating story bosses. Gold is used to power up Mirai through the boards, unlock challenges, and get the keys to fight the bosses. XP is used to level up skills. Music: Good. Art Style: Pixel but good. Problem: While you can get small bonuses by leveling up the boards. The issue is that there is no way to know how to enable chains, it is completely random. Which for clearing challenges, just makes it bad. Overall: It is a good game.

This game is nice after you mute the repetitive voice lines. 8/10
