There are games mostly aimed at kids that I enjoy and would recommend for adults too. This is not one of them. It looks cute and high quality, and I was very curious about how it would present different places in Europe. But I didn't get as far as leaving the initial place before I quit. I found the controls awkward (arrow keys for movement, D to interact, no remapping). The voice over was overly slow, clear and exaggerated - which may be helpful for small children or anyone learning English, but I found it annoying. Subtitles can be toggled on in the options, but they are HUGE and the voice over deviated from the written text twice during my 14 minutes of play time. I didn't see an option to hide the speech bubbles with symbols that you get in addition, presumably for children who can't read or understand the language. The actual content, as far as I got, had "edutainment" written all over it. Which, again, is probably nice for kids of the appropriate age. Story-wise, I honestly can't remember any introduction of Rascal, who that actually is or why we're looking for them. I'm clearly not the right person to review this game, but wanted to give a heads-up to my friends who ha…7 found this helpful
This is quite a charming game. It does skew towards a younger audience and would be perfect to play with a 5-10 year old. There is a strong focus on learning about European cultures and languages, which is great for kids, and even adults can learn something new here (like about spaghetti ice cream). The only major downside is that movement feels slow and clunky. This isn't too bothersome until you have to pick up 10 objects and slowly return them to an NPC one by one. Besides this, it's an enjoyable experience that I would recommend you pick up for a kid in your life. This game is so wholesome! I love every detail and facet of the different countries. The gameplay is smooth and works very well with the controller. Music and voice acting are great. The travel book to collect all the different pieces for every country is very nice and keeps you wanting to collect it all! Would love to have an overview of all collected pieces spanning all countries, but it's very fun regardless. Everybody should give Rascal´s Escape a try, especially kids. They can learn very much about every country included! Here is hoping for more countries to come!5 found this helpful
I love the novelty of each level being set in a different city/country. Charming story and cheeky writing. Was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it is fully voiced in English! Cant go wrong with cute animals.3 found this helpful
It's such a cute game with lovely graphics and I can see myself playing it both with my nieces but also with my spouse. I love that you get to hear the different European languages and even some less common ones!2 found this helpful
