About Rendezvous: Shadows of the Past

I can't remember the last time we smiled and laughed together.
After our parents died, you went one way and I went another.
Is this really how you want to see this through? To end up like them and hope we reunite?
I just wish for once that you'd stop running, stop lying, and look me in the eyes and say you missed me.
Is it really that hard to do Setyo?
Can you do that, for us
For what's left of our family?

Rendezvous: Shadows of the Past is the prologue to the upcoming 2.5D Cyber-Noir pixel art puzzle-action adventure game by Pendopo Studios. This free adventure takes place in Bay City, following security guard Setyo starting another day of his mundane job — until a familiar face from his past resurfaces.
A stunning combination of 2D hand-drawn pixel art in a 2.5D world, melded with modern effects such as dynamic lighting and bloom to bring depth and life to the city around you.Multiple paths lead to items, objects of interest, and tools that help you find your sister — and many secrets along the way!Gather clues and use everything you know to solve challenges that stand on your path to redemption. For the risk-averse, sneak around threats... or directly confront them with the (sometimes improvised) weapons available.

Rendezvous: Shadows of the Past, developed by Pendopo Creations and published by Hitcents, is a compact cyber-noir adventure that blends narrative-driven exploration with puzzle-solving and occasional stealth elements. Framed as a prologue, it doesn’t attempt to deliver a fully expansive story, but instead offers a focused introduction to a world shaped by personal conflict, technological tension, and quiet emotional undercurrents. Even within its limited scope, it manages to leave a distinct impression through its atmosphere and stylistic choices. The story follows Setyo, a seemingly ordinary security guard whose life begins to unravel as fragments of his past resurface, particularly those involving his missing sister. The narrative leans into noir-inspired storytelling, emphasizing introspection, regret, and the slow uncovering of hidden truths. Rather than relying on dramatic spectacle, it builds its tone through smaller, more personal moments. However, the pacing can feel uneven, as the game moves quickly through key developments, occasionally leaving important details underexplored. While the central mystery is engaging, it often feels like the beginning of a larger narrative…

The game is pretty boring if you ask me. There’s not a lot to do, and most of the time you’re just walking around. It’s also very short, but it’s fine if you just want to grab all the achievements and hit 100% completion. That said, the graphics are cute, and the buildings and locations are really well done. I love the aesthetic, the cars and people moving around, the random graffiti, even the street characters. It all gives the world a lively, busy city vibe. In conclusion, it’s a decent, short little game. Kind of like a snack you eat because it’s there, not because you’re hungry.

Rendezvous is a chill game and has good audio. It's stylish with a beautiful city (Bay City California). The controls are simple and easy to pick up, making the game easy to finish. Although it's visually appealing, its very short since it’s just a prologue, and the story didn’t really grab me. It’s not something I’d play again, as it can feel a bit boring after the first run. I’d say it’s worth trying once for the style and the city, but beyond that, there isn’t much replay value. If you want easy achievements and a 100% to show off, this game is definitely for you Rating: 3/10

very well made for a 2D/platformer style point and click. definitely an interesting interpretation on the cyberpunk genre from south-east asia. I think this is the demo for the actual game Rendezvous so I will definitely check it out! only complaint is that the fighting mechanics are a bit clunky.
