About Robinson: The Journey

When the Esmeralda crashes on Tyson III, Robin is left stranded. He must rely on his wits – and HIGS, an AI unit from the ship – to survive. As he searches for the lost crew and comes face-to-face with dinosaurs, Robin discovers that Tyson III is not the paradise once promised.

I immediately requested a refund after playing this game for just a few minutes on my Pico 4 headset. The resolution was poor, and there was no option to increase it. The were prompts appearing on screen to show what buttons on the controllers to press to carry out certain actions, but they were so blurry that it was virtually impossible to see them, and I was forced to press all kinds of button combinations to find out which ones worked. Overall, it did not appear to be anywhere near as good as the videos on the Steam store page. For reference, my system plays "Half Life Alyx" with crystal clear resolution and high frame rates at max settings, and MSFS 2020 in 1440P "High" settings with no problems. Disappointing!

It does not work with my HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite. I get to the main menu and thats it, my VR controllers don't work in the game. (They work just fine everywhere else) It will only work if I use my Mouse and Keyboard, witch is realy hard to do with a headset on?

The controls are really weird, their were probably designed for an other VR generation (tried with Quest 3), you need to press the analog sticks as the main select / click feature, the buttons AB XY are basically not used. The game resolution is pretty low, other than that its an ok VR introduction game, you are basically going here and there multiple times and interacting with a dinosaur. Really feels like a 2017 VR game and not in a good way.

Once you tinker with the settings a bit, the game becomes absolutely wonderful. It was fun to play with my pet dinosaur, go fishing, and gather all kinds of information about the story and the planet.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this game for Quest 3. It looks very good, graphics are sharp and the world looks interesting, but trying to force it to work with Quest 3 controllers is real nightmare. After literaly hours of trying to find solution I wasn't able to find one that would allow for comfortable gameplay on Quest 3, and I really tried hard becasue the game itself looks very promising.

Even YEARS later, I still can't play this game. Why? Because this VR game doesn't have any option to teleport. Meaning... You have to walk with your controller and that makes me hella motion sick. This is so f*cking sad, I was really looking forward to this.
