Robo Puzzle Smash

[b]robo puzzle smash[/b] is a tetris battler with voxel robots, optionally controlled by humans. drop blocks quickly or they'll fall on their own, rotate the board if you have to, but matches only happen if a 'breaker' block of the same color is placed next to the others. matches also send blocks of that color to the opponent's board and filling the power bar lets you turn the current block into a glowy one that matches anything. simple as that. there are [b]8 robots[/b] (2 have to be unlocked somehow) and [b]a few layouts/levels[/b], plus various game modes. [u]arcade[/u] is the main campaign if you can call it that (someone was actually credited with the 'story'). there's some dialog with a silent typewriter effect, press a key to make it all appear at once. pick a robot, beat the other 6 (including yours), then the boss, done. I expected to see the boss in other game modes as a playable character after but it didn't happen. I played on easy because I didn't think I'd get anywhere even then, so that might be the reason. the training comes up every time an arcade run is started, but it's skippable at least. the problem is, [b]mid-run progress isn't saved[/b]. not if you quit dur…

Had this game for two years, but came back to it recently to remote play with a buddy that loves puzzle fighters like i do. It's a fun game with an interesting balance system. combos are kinda broken, but it's not exactly easy to set off a combo. it's got a nice visual design, nice sound design, and the story is funny too. I'd say if you're into puzzle fighting games, then this is a good choice.

This game has two great strengths about it. 1. The unique mechanics it brings to the Puzzle Fighter format make it a unique and enjoyable experience and really make you plan out your strategies. 2. The devs are on top of bug fixes, going so far as to fix a broken achievement the day before leaving for Too Many Games. I do, however, have a minor complaint about its wild system. Teching deals damage (if minor), so if the AI ever gets a wild breaker, it ruins attempts at getting the Perfect achievement, and (as of writing this review) it's possible for you and the AI to get into an infinite loop of using supers (replaces your current piece with a wild breaker) to the point where a double KO is possible, and a double KO softlocks the game. There aren't a lot of people who play this game, and it's a shame, as this is quite a good game. (Case and point: Far as I can tell, I'm the first person to unlock the achievement for beating Hard with an S-rank, and that jumped that achievement's global completion score from 0% to 1.3% at the time of writing this.) If you enjoyed Puzzle Fighter, or if you enjoy other active puzzle games like Puyo, I highly recommend you pick this one up. ...but…

it's an ok game, but i just dont feel even close to hooked by the core gameplay. and there isnt really anything else that i would say is particularly good about this game

I met the developer in Toomanygames 2016. He introduced me to this game, and I instantly liked it. I thought it was a great idea, and was really amazed by the unique gameplay mechanics. I followed him on twitter to see the updates on the game, and I have to commended to following through with this project. He is just one person working on this game (I believe). So working on a game like this, especially with fixing all the bugs can be very challenging. The problem is the Marketing for this game was barely none existing, and that really hurt the life of this game. Not saying this game is dead (even though the online multiplayer is). I'm just saying that maybe he could have gave some free codes to some huge twitch influencers, and get the hype going for this game. From what I've played, I would say that I like what I see. I don't think the game is worth $14.99 but rather a solid $9.99. If the Online multiplayer was packed with 50 players readily available to challenge online (or even more) then I would say the price would totally be worth it. Very unique and fun puzzle game that kind of simulates a fighting game in a sense (kind of like Puzzle Fighter). I'm hoping more people start to play online.
