Roots of Tomorrow, your life on a sustainable farm
Roots of Tomorrow is a strategy and management turn-based game made to better understand agroecology (sustainable agriculture). Play as one of four characters and start your farming career in France! Your mission: to achieve the agroecological transition of your farm within 10 years! You can take many paths to reach this objective, all will depend on the choices YOU make.
Welcome to your farm!
- Brittany (Northwest of France). Breed pigs and grow multiple crops
- Grand Est (Northeast of France). Breed cattle and grow multiple crops
- Provence (Southeast of France): Breed sheep and grow multiple crops
- More farms to be added soon!
Manage a team!
As the farm's head manager, you're in charge of affecting various tasks to your employees! There's loads to do: sowing seedlings, feeding your animals, cleaning, fertilizing, and even entertaining tourists!
Careful not to overwork them though, or your farm's social score may suffer...
Unlock sustainable farming techniques!
Research is an essential part of sustainable agriculture! Unlock direct seeding, hedges to preserve biodiversity, energy autonomy, precision agriculture, and many more sustainable farming practices!
Keep an eye on your farm's scores!
To achieve a truly sustainable farm, you'll need to balance your economic, environmental, and social scores. They are affected by every decision you make on your farm so think twice before using synthetic fertilizer or going into too much debt!

It's an interesting concept, but the game balance is completely bonkers. On all of my test games I went into insane debt very rapidly, and the game doesn't seem to care. There's also really not much choice aside from which crops to plant, because you can't choose to, for example, just not protect your crops with pesticides, it forces you to do all the farm work before the next turn. Promising concept, not so good execution.3 found this helpful

"Roots of Tomorrow" is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam... and wow, it's bug riddled train wreck, with most of the content paygated as the for-profit developers trying to shove a lesson about sustainable farming down our throats instead discover something about unsustainable and unethical game pricing. Oh how the turntables have turned. This is a very weak "farming sim" tycoon game, with the bulk of the gameplay presented in such a way the whole thing might have been a website, click through dialogues and play spreadsheet simulator... if you're thinking this is going to be like Farm Simulator 2023, you'll be sorely disappointed, as gamers, who are not farmers, get preached to about sustainability (don't get me wrong, it's important, but it's also important that mobile app developers understand that it doesn't belong in the sphere of PC gaming, just like mobile apps don't). In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend b…
