i want to like but with the latest update its still early early access. riddle with bugs and cheap mechanics. selling things has n sell option so you have to place your item leave the menu then reissue a convo to sell again and you repeat that cuz if you place an item on top of the other item itll delete that item from existence, you have a flying cat that follows you everywhere and will hover over npcs to prevent you from talking to them cuz it has free movement, the devs claim there is a story but nothing shows that, you have no quests or quest log. but there is a quest and you have to remember what your suppose to do and the devs claim there is a quest line with a lumberjack but doesnt do anything but sell you wood like there are billions of trees you dont need to buy wood. there is no feature for having a chest next to your workbench so you can craft things woth resources in the box so you have to constantly deal with a full inventory. the repair station is a joke you need 50 things inorder to repair a basic tool. you can just craft a new one and use less resources. this game has way too many flaws thatll urk real players most of the people who originally started playing thi…

Runika: A World of Little Legends, developed by Pascal Dittrich and published by padSoft, is an early-access sandbox adventure that tries to merge the calm, open-ended nature of farming and crafting games with a light layer of exploration and narrative mystery. It presents a world that is inviting rather than demanding, giving players room to experiment and define their own pace, but that same freedom can also make the experience feel unfocused depending on how you approach it. The premise begins with a simple, almost whimsical setup: the player is drawn into a miniature world through a magical object, arriving in a land that feels peaceful at first glance but is gradually being affected by a mysterious force known as the Rift. From that point on, the game largely steps aside and lets the player decide what to do next. There is no rigid structure dictating progression, and while there are hints of a broader narrative, they unfold slowly and often take a back seat to the sandbox elements. This design encourages exploration and curiosity, but it can also leave players uncertain about their direction, especially in the early stages. Gameplay revolves around a familiar loop of gather…

Love it, wasn't expecting much but Runika has passed my expectations. would love to see more varied biomes and a few QOL additions like being able to move your home but well worth it.

I've not spent too much time with the game though I intend to change that. It scratches a very specific itch of needing a sandbox crafting game that has not just a 90s pixel art aesthetic, but a legally distinct Zelda aesthetic in particular. Which is good. Many games have a top down, 16 bit look but I've not seen one that pursues this style so closely and so perfectly. It's been in early access for a while but has had consistent updates and if you are looking for yet another crafting sim ice cream in the vein of Stardew Valley but with a Zelda shape and flavor, this is the one.

First impressions seems good. I like that after the intro the game starts you off wild and just lets you live and explore naturally. If you want help there is a tent next to spawn with a NPC who tells you where to go, guides on crafting and a cozy town to your south but its nice to not have constant pop ups taking me away from the experience. The atmosphere is relaxing and mixed with the lore gives it a very adventurous fantasy feel. Based on other feedback and my own experience with these types of games the main downside will likely be a lack of content, but wanting more content out of a game is practically a good review its just these games do not have the same kind of teams as other games to take longer to develop. What is rare for these types of small teams and games is not having any major bugs or game breaking issues, so far there has not been a single one and the game runs very smooth with no issues. If they can keep that going and keep some updates to content this game has is going in a great direction, I can already tell based on the lore they have some cool ideas to work with.

Runika is a really cute and cozy game. It gave me a bit of a Stardew Valley feeling, but with more focus on exploring the world. The pixel art is beautiful and full of small details, which makes the world feel very charming. The developer is also a super kind person, and you can even watch the development on Twitch, which is really nice to see. I played the Early Access version and already had a lot of fun. Some things were a bit hard to figure out at first (like which materials to combine to get new tools and materials), but since it’s still Early Access that’s totally fine. It was actually kind of fun to experiment and discover things. I’m really looking forward to the final release and especially the new story elements! :>
