About Sanity Break

Beginning with a broadcast sent directly to your mind, you're then forced into a sinister world full of monsters that hide as shadows on the walls, while your mind melts and the world changes around you. Suit up, its going to be a long week.

Choose your class

Select your class and build your character - Choose between 4 unique classes with unique abilities and stats then build your character as you play
  • Brute - Strength and Power - Smash your way through hallways and let nothing stop you
  • Thief - Relying on speed and agility, with a powerful Dash that can move through objects in your way
  • Haggler - This worlds take on a Mage - Remotely accessing the shop anytime provides a major upper hand
  • Journeyman - Jack of all trades and master of none - The perfect class to carve out the playstyle you seem fitting
Every enemy requires a different approachThe monsters in this world prefer to not be seen. They hide as shadows on the wall, watching and following you. Some hide as a stool, a box, a statue, and they only move closer when you dont notice them. Some monsters cannot be seen by the naked eye, only be using an old mostly broken camera can you spot where they are when you hear them growling in your ear. And well... one likes to be seen, and will make its presence known.... relentlessly.Robust Sanity SystemYour mind may be the biggest threat of all... Keep your sanity meter full before the world warps around you. The further your sanity meter descends, you will see and hear things that may or may not be there, let it drain completely and you'll question everything you see.Feel overpowered while underpoweredGrind your stats and you will have every advantage - speed, strength, money, mental fortitude... But don't forget these entities don't abide by the laws of physics. Trial and ErrorEvery run is a desperate descent into procedurally generated dungeons where nothing stays the same for long. Time is limited—you have only five days to complete your objective. As you run out of resources, and the entities who have occupied these facilities seem to enjoy Failure is inevitable, but not meaningless. Death, madness, and repetition feed into a larger cycle of growth. Survive, adapt, and carve your own path forward—if you can keep your grip on reality.

First, a huge thank you to Piemaster37 for sending me an early copy to try out. The retro VHS horror style immediately stands out—grainy visuals, tense atmosphere, and a strong sense of dread throughout. There are four playable classes, each with their own unique skills, giving variety to every run. The in-game help system is excellent, clearly explaining character traits, objectives, items, and the shop. It makes onboarding simple and intuitive, something many indie horror titles overlook. Gameplay is straightforward: you have five days to collect five keys, allowing only two failures. The loop of scavenging, surviving, and advancing is rewarding, though I did encounter some technical frustrations. The battery life drains too quickly, forcing near-constant resupplies. The font, while thematically fitting, can be hard to read, and the item-swapping lag (1–4 keys) causes noticeable frame drops. These issues break immersion but feel solvable with polish. With minor adjustments to control responsiveness, readability, and lighting, this game could become a standout in its niche. It’s already good—just a few refinements away from great. – The Ember Archives https://store.steampower…

Sanity Break is a single player rogue-like, class based, Lethal Company style horror game. You enter a structure in search of TAPEs as well as collecting money in order to purchase upgrades, and gaining xp to level up and increase your survival odds. I really wanted to like this game. The pictures on the page looked very cool and the concept seemed interesting. However there are some major issues that i can't overlook. 1 - The flashlight! It runs out of battery in about 15 seconds. I found myself playing a game of find enough money to be able to purchase enough battery to see long enough to find enough money to be able to purchase enough battery to see long enough to... 2 - It's very dark and very cluttered. There is stuff EVERYWHERE! Boxes, trashcans, shelves, pillars, tables, chairs, pipes etc every step. Mixed with the extremely short flashlight battery and darkness i was constantly stuck behind things. 3 - Visual clarity! Visual clarity is a HUGE deal for me. I hate difficulty being tied to being unable to see what the hell is going on. The aforementioned darkness, lack of flashlight, clutter, pixelated filter, low texture resolution, invisible enemies, effects when you st…

Overall I think the concept of this game is very cool and unique. I can’t say I’ve seen anyone combine a randomly generated rpg style game with survival horror before. And I could see the gameplay loop being fairly fun. However I do think the game needs some nerfing or balancing first. The enemies are invisible and also one shot you, there is no combat that I found either. And the flashlight dies too quickly to be helpful, and is expensive to refill. Top that with other enemies that take all your money in one go, and it’s very difficult. I totally admit this could be a skill issue but I think at least for the first or second in game day should be balanced a bit more to let the player upgrade some things and get some good kit going to give the player a chance at success
