Scarlet Deer Inn

I hate to return this game, but ultimately it just isn't fun. You cannot change the key bindings for this game and the keys they chose are really obnoxious and not the one 99 percent of pc gamers use (wasd) instead you have to use your arrow keys. This just kind of ruined it for me. It looks very interesting, I might watch people stream it, but I do not understand why they chose to make it so obnoxious for people playing on keyboard.

Scarlet Deer Inn is a very pretty game, with an interesting premise and the embroidered graphics are innovative! The music is fantastic. However, aesthetics aside, I don't know if I would have bought it if I'd realized how much of the game involves having to go through very similar-looking caves and jump around avoiding spikes and so on. That's not really a genre I enjoy. The sections I enjoyed more were having to go around the village and talk to people and find things. There's a tone shift pretty early on in the game, and it's abrupt. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you were expecting more of the game to be like the beginning, you'll be disappointed. (I've also seen people describe the game as "cozy" and I REALLY would not call it that.) Also, I understand that everything is getting expensive and everyone's trying to make a living, but $20 - or even the about $16 I spent - feels like a lot for a short game that doesn't have a lot of replayability.

Short, lovely dark folk tale that's a mixture of adventure game and platformer, talking to villagers, exploring creepy mines, trying to keep your torch lit to stay alive. Superb visual style, superb czech folk music. The platforming and occasional combat is simple, but gets the job done. The atmoshere is at times funny, at times incredibly grim and melancholic. Talk to all the NPCs you come across multiple times, the little stories that come out of them are surprisingly subtly crafted, and add to the overall experience. As said the game is short, and doesn't overstay its welcome. You don't really play it for the gameplay, you're here for the atmosphere, the beautifully crafted, embroidered characters and text boxes, the gorgeous painted environments. I've come to really enjoy Attu's games, so it'll be thrilling to see what they do next.

it has a unique animation style although the combat game is quite underwhelming. also the spawn point kinda made the game a little bit frustrating especially if i'm also at the last part of the puzzle. but overall it is a good unique game.
