About Scarlet Deer Inn

Works great on Steam Deck!

We're still waiting for Valve to officially verify Scarlet Deer Inn, but we designed the game to work well on it.

ABOUTScarlet Deer Inn is an embroidered dark medieval folk tale. While life in a seemingly ordinary village is all about simple chores and idle gossip, sinister secrets hide below.
 • Beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and traditional animations crafted from physically embroidered frames.
 • A world filled with colourful characters.
 • Hidden shortcuts in the dark that make each playthrough easier.
 • Folk music inspired by the Middle Ages and performed on traditional instruments.
THE STORY Elise is a mother of two. She is not exactly extraordinary, and there are no heroic epics written about her.
Her circumstances will force her to explore unusual places and face dark, terrifying situations.
THE TEAM Attu Games is a husband-and-wife team from the Czech Republic. During the development of Scarlet Deer Inn, their duo expanded into a trio with the birth of their baby, bringing a whole new level of chaos to the process.

Really nice looking game with awesome music. The gameplay is on simpler side with some light puzzles, however it was enjoyable for me.

I'm recommending the game because I know the passion and soul that went into the development, and I beat it in a handful of hours, so it's not like it takes up too much of your time. That being said, there isn't much game here that isn't just running around in the dark. I feel like the game's primary gimmick and draw, which is the embroidered character art, is also the thing holding it back from being more of a game. A few QOL updates could shave an hour and a half off of playtime and probably make it a more enjoyable experience.

Nice small game! Really feels like a classic slavic fairytale. I enjoyed my time. It made me laugh a lot with the czech dialogs. Cheers from Slovakia!

If you're a fan of puzzle and platform or medieval folklore I would definitley recommend this game. Its a simple but nonetheless interesting story, you aren't playing as some epic hero, you're just a peasant. More then that I won't say, but the game is also very beautiful, has interesting music and was overall a fun experience. I would say this game is really worth your time.

I see a lot of people on here saying that the short play time doesn't justify the price. What a bunch of lame-os. If this gave was 5 minutes I'd still pay $20. I think some of us forget that videogames are a medium and some devs make out of love, not competition. I've also seen many comments say that the story doesn't feel finished. The way the story ends is haunting. It wraps up perfectly imo. Elise has to continue with the chilling realization that
at any moment her children could be taken from her.
The other slug boy is also
nowhere to be found
implying that the Beekeeper
already sacrificed him to the devil woman
. There's lots of mystery surrounding who the main antagonist is at the end, but I think the story leaves breadcrumbs along the way to reveal her true identity as
the sister that was cut up by the the Old Hag and her sister.
All in all, I loved the game. At some point I'll be replaying because I know I missed some things and it's simply a charming game to play. Thank you Attu Games for making this remarkable piece of art. <3
