About Sea Fantasy

Save the world by fishing! A new pixel open world action RPG! This is the story of two young men who set out on an adventure to fish for the Sea'Az, the marine creatures of this world.
To catch Sea'Az, perform a successful “Gauge Action”. If you stop the bar at the “Hit Area” or “Critical Area” in the gauge at the right time, you can damage Sea'Az. Successful fishing is achieved by continuing to inflict damage and reducing the HP to 0! Be careful, as there are SeaAZ with more powerful individual “gauge gimmick”.
You can create equipment (fishing rods and hooks) using materials obtained from the Sea'Az you catch. By creating strong equipment, you can take advantage of the fishing action.Rod and Axel go on an adventurous journey together.
Let him do all the fishing for Sea'Az and stripping of materials.
Let Axel take care of everything, such as removing obstacles along the way.Sometimes there are vicious Sea'Az that will attack you.
Let's work together with Axel and Rod to catch them!Explore the vast pixel world freely by boat. It is not only about fishing.
You can enjoy various 2D action elements in between fishing.

Think of this as a fishing minigame with an RPG attached to it rather than an RPG based on fishing. Is it good? IDK

Over 10 years ago I was in a Game Stop and a young girl walked up to the guy at the counter and very seriously asked if they have any fishing games, at the time I chuckled as honestly outside of a side game mechanic fishing is never the main point of a game outside of shovelware games... As for me as I got older I really started to find value out of the random side quest that were fishing based Monster Hunter has the Speartuna GS, Terraria has many great item obtained by fishing and honestly it was always nice to take a break from doing something very fast and intensive to something more slower and focused based. That all being said this game is great, Sea Fantasy give you simple story progression with a ton of side areas to casually get more materials for crafting new rods, use for their individual per item skill point value to craft new hooks, or to sell for currency. The Fish (Sea Az) you catch range from a carp to various eldritch horrors, all with their own material drops that you can influence with your luck stat. The story is 80% Fishing with about 20% anime as the flavor, play as anime lad ROD OCEAN! (Fish fear him anime girls love him) and his childhood bff AXEL BRAVE!…

Sea Fantasy hits the usual beats of RPGs (exploration, crafting, customization, levelling, dungeons, boss fights), with your main progression being tied to fishing. Catching new fish opens up more crafting recipes, and each species drops unique materials used for crafting (or selling if you have extras), leading to a fishing-crafting-fishing loop. The catching itself is a simple minigame with additional mechanics for rarer fish, which keeps things fresh and incentivises switching of equipment. This is the bulk of the game, so whether you enjoy it or not will really determine if you like this 20hr RPG - there's also exploration, including a few platforming sections and traversal abilities down the line, but most of the time you'll be picking a spot and settling in until you get the items you're looking for. Despite the active fishing minigame, Sea Fantasy is a very relaxed and easy to play experience - you don't lose anything by dying, and as the game progresses, you get more quality of life tools that streamline your experience. Every other aspect of the game is unobtrusive and supports the mechanics well enough - the story is straightforward and a little silly, the art worked …

I like it, runs and looks great on the OLED deck. Only just started but I got it as a time killer and it's more than served my purpose.
