About Shadowcrypt
Shadowcrypt is an arcade-style dungeon crawler with tactical sword & shield combat. Your goal is simple - to find the Necromancer and defeat his horde of undead warriors through a series of labyrinthine rooms.
Inspired by the combat mechanics of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Shadowcrypt is a short but challenging game with old-school gameplay reminiscent of the 8-bit era. Quick reflexes, timing, and keen observation of enemies are essential to survive the deadly catacomb!

This is a great game, possibly even my favorite on Steam (and I own hundreds). The style and the difficulty level if just right, in my opinion. A hell of a game, really nicely made. Recommended.4 found this helpful
The game could do with more variation in its aesthetics. And at the same time it really is a perfect arcade platformer, where 50% of the game is a memory test to not get lost in corridors that look identical all the way through. At first I found this frustrating but then it really adds charm that you have to inject some imagination into how you recall navigating so many passages. It is a HARD game, but forgiving still if say, you lose your master sword, in how much time it takes to essentially retrieve it. Would love to see a sequel- The music is fantastic, and the whole thing feels very captivating.
Good, but doesn't reach its potential due to its very short length. I finished it for the first time in under an hour, game overs and all. It's worth a try, but it feels like a proof of concept for a larger game.
Super nice animations and designs for the characters. Levels are basic but work well enough. The whole game is more like one long level in a game, rather than a game alone. If you're looking to grind for achievements and git gud then this is the game for you. After one play-through to get used to the controls it took me about 50 minutes to get to the necromancer. (Not that I can beat him yet anyway) Recommend to play when you need something to do without thinking to much.
