About Singularity
‘Singularity’ is an immersive virtual reality experience that combines technologies including 3D scanning, head-mounted display, and immersive sound design. Creating an abandoned and forgotten world by designing a decentralized order, it invites the audience to rethink the relationship between living organism and inorganic intelligence. The inspiration for this work grows from the artist's personal experience of living an accelerating digitized world. She creatively associates the relationship between racing games and Moore's Law, also The Law of Accelerating Returns that appeared in the human’s technology development history.
In racing games, users can usually accelerate by collecting props. According to The Law of Accelerating Returns, every time new technology is invented, the acceleration curve rose exponentially. The two phenomena coincide. This work uses the rationale of racing game as the basis of designing the experience’s structure. The audience will be able to explore many technical metaphors that we once used, as well as ones we are currently using, including mobile phones, Bluetooth, Information superhighway, chatbots, etc. The audience will experience the accelerating virtual reality world through observing and collecting the metaphors, and finally achieve the "singularity". Ray Kurzweil claims that the singularity will happen by 2045. Also, Steven Shaviro states that ‘like it or not, we are all accelerationists now’.

"Singularity" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Singularity" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. This complete garbage "art experience" is a nonsensical "simulation" where, well, you look at stuff in VR. That's it. The "artist" supplies some incomprehensible word salad dribble to try explain what this is supposed to be, it doesn't, it just looks like they got exceedingly drunk, tore up a copy of a Kurzweil book they found in the pub urinal, and reassembled some of the words. This truly is some of the worst garbage I've seen on Steam. I'm not the only one who feels this way, of the 120,000,000+ gamers on Steam, this "art experience" only had a peak viewer count of two concurrent viewers... it's garbage nobody was interested in. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basemen…2 found this helpful

Игра 'Singularity' – это недооцененный бриллиант жанра шутеров от первого лица с элементами хоррора. Сюжет, повествующий о временных парадоксах и советских экспериментах на острове Каторга-12, захватывает с первых минут и держит в напряжении до самого финала. Геймплей предлагает интересное сочетание динамичных перестрелок и головоломок, связанных с использованием манипулятора времени (МВП). МВП позволяет состаривать или омолаживать объекты, создавать временные пузыри и многое другое, что делает сражения разнообразными и тактическими. Несмотря на то, что графика может показаться устаревшей, атмосфера заброшенного советского комплекса с его жуткими мутантами и мрачными секретами реализована превосходно. Иногда игра пугает по-настоящему, а саунд-дизайн добавляет дополнительный слой напряжения. Из минусов можно отметить некоторую линейность уровней и не самую лучшую оптимизацию на современных системах, что, впрочем, легко решается небольшими настройками. В целом, 'Singularity' – это отличный выбор для тех, кто ищет захватывающий сюжет и оригинальный геймплей в сеттинге альтернативной истории холодной войны. Рекомендую!
Couldn't even play. The first thing I see is black screen and some cropped dialogue on the upper side of the screen which has "Continue" button, but not a single key, nor mouse button works, so I stuck at that screen. Fix the game.
