Sky Conquest

This is by far the most horrible platformer I've played in a long time. I wasted about an hour trying to reach the top of "Sky Jump" and didn't even make it halfway. Right before you attempt the journey to the top you'll find a sign at the bottom that reads; difficulty: impossible, which says it all. I didn't have the slightest fun and it felt more like a suffering experience, so I decided to uninstall the game for good.

"Sky Conquest" is maybe a student project or something? It's free, and the quality is better than what your average amateur game developer is capable of. Of course, and despite the okay-ish looking graphics, this isn't a complete game, it severely lacks polish, to the point it's janky and un-fun at the one job it has, which is to be a cute kind of platformer for kids. Oh well. At least it's not an RPG Maker asset flip, so we should be thankful for small mercies. What do you do in the game? There's a slew of different activities in this platformer (some implemented, some just advertised but abandoned) which, if the quality here was any good, would have made this a winner. Alas, testing and polish are also needed for a game to be successful. This wasn't. The developers abandoned this 1 year and 8 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The lack of customizable controls is a significant drawback. This decision makes the game potentially unplayable for gamers with physical disabilities, left-handed players, or those using non-QWERTY keyboard layouts like AZ…

it's hard to tell if this game was made intentionally to be garbage or if it's just a passion project they gave up on as they were trying to figure out the code and released it anyways. it runs terribly. you can't turn off the music. you can't access the settings unless you're in the main menu. there are voicelines that don't fit at all and feel like they were translated to english. the stamina meter is useless because you can still spam the dash button at zero stamina because it recharges immediately. the roll button plays an audio sound every single time you press it, regardless of whether you finished the current roll or not. the adventure mode's platforming still has mouse control during 2d sections, meaning you can walk off the map if you move your mouse. you can softlock your game in the adventure mode level select if you press the roll button. you can fall infinitely in level 2-3 in some spots. it's hard to believe this was released.

Terrible performance and controls. No options. UPDATE: Fair enough. The game has been updated and the developer addressed my concerns. Options are now available in game and performance has indeed improved somewhat. I am still overall lukewarm about the game, but I'll be damned if I don't give a thumbs up to a dev that takes critique up front and gets their act together as well as this.
