Since this game isn't longer than just few commercial breaks in the row, I will be succinct. Space Channel 5 VR, for somebody who loved Space Channel 5 on Dreamcast, is an absolute joy to blast through. Original game's formula works flawlessly in VR, with just some required difficulty adjustments to compensate for inherent inaccuracy of your typical motion controllers. It was a pleasure to see Ulala "in person" and finally do the moves "for real" - not by just pressing buttons on a gamepad. Sadly, price and amount of content do not match the hype. Space Channel 5 VR has only four short missions and a handful of bonus modes. While I personally enjoyed my stay, I cannot be sure that non-initiated with the franchise will get a satisfying product. Additionally, this game also will be very confusing to newbies with its wacky artstyle and retro-future, campy setting – it doesn’t really work as a good starting point. While I would only recommend this if you are a big fan of Space Channel 5 or on very steep sale, I simply cannot give this a Thumbs Down verdict. I had too much fun dancing through all the challenges.4 found this helpful
It's amazingly wonderful and keeps in line with the heart and spirit of the original game. The actions aren't difficult, everything is fun and it's just a game that is *built* for VR. I moved through this game faster than I did for the original. It's a wonderful dancing game that won't tire you out quickly or make you bored. If you're a fan of the original game, this is sure to please4 found this helpful
A relatively easy game compared to its predecessor but it really scratches an itch if you're really missing some FUNK after playing Space Channel 5: Part 2. It's actually quite amazing how well they translated the gameplay into virtual reality. It feels great! But man, I just wish there was more content and difficulty to this game. Come back to us, Ulala...3 found this helpful
Updating my review after one more hour in game: it turns out that, while fun, this game only has 4 levels in its story mode. This is outrageous for the price. The longplay on YouTube lasts 30 minutes !3 found this helpful
I'm actually shocked that I saw everything there was to see in this game in an hour and a half. I said "Wait, that's not seriously it, is it?" out loud. That is to say, Space Channel 5 VR is a repackaged reskinned Part 2 with some extra goodies, not remotely it's own stand-alone game. And like, that's fine, but it's not really want I wanted or what I expected. And it seems like it was originally created to be a workout/exercise game? It tells you how many calories you burned at the end of each report, and there are voice lines referencing "at least it'll be a good workout!" An... odd choice, but sure. I'm a die-hard Space Channel 5 fan, and I'd say about 60% of the material for this game is recycled from Part 2. By that I mean, the music is the same, lyrics following the same melody even, but with different words. The dancing animations are the same and chopped up from different songs and spliced together. Even a lot of the button sequences are taken right from Part 2. All of this to say, do you like Space Channel 5 already? This is a Space Channel 5 experience and you'll probably like it. Understand that it's not a brand new experience and you'll have a great time. Mo-mo-mo-m…1 found this helpful
its a little expensive for the amount of play time but it's honestly really fun.
