StarForce 2193: The Hotep® Controversy

StarForce 2193 is a browser game that's been dumped on Steam. Gameplay consists of a sci-fi themed cardgame from 1-5 players, all presented with an interface that looks pretty terrible for 1995, and looks completely craptastic today. With such a terrible interface it's impossible to take this seriously. The game isn't really free as you're forced to provide your email address to the developers, presumably for the purpose of data profiling, spamming, and data harvesting. There's no valid reason for the developer to require this, but here we are. The developers admit the game is still only in beta, and given how bad it looks and that it's been on Steam for over 5 years with little to no progress made, this is a fairly dead game. How dead? SteamDB shows a PEAK player number of a pitiful 3 players, ONCE. The game never recovered from that peak, 3 years ago, typically showing zero players but sometimes one player. For a multiplayer only game, that's proof of death. Presumably nobody was interested in handing over personal data to the developers for their spyware/data hustling scheme. That's understandable.
