Stellar Raid

This is the weakest ripoff of Metal Slug you'll ever see. "Stellar Raid" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. Following the Metal Slug formula, but so, so badly, this jank nightmare is a clunky and unpolished mess that has you doing the same stuff Metal Slug was doing in the 1990s (only this was published in 2021, so there's no excuses for this being as bad as it is). Going into the game, you're just doing platforming and shooting, there's no real motivation to do it, the narrative is worse than a 6 year old's fan-fiction. It's apparent very quickly why gamers rejected this. Heck, this looks and plays worse than some Flash games. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming.
