About Subvirtual

Story

Follow along with Zivraye on an adventure through the subvirtual! The story of Subvirtual is analogous to the creation process, such that closing the Infinity Chest at the end is akin to completing the MagiRouter -a device used to communicate from the Zivraye universe to many many others. Zivraye's sojourn will take you across all 7 background arenas!

Gameplay

Subvirtual consists of cubes that form a subgrid. Cubes can be dug up (uncovered) using the VR shovel hand and flagged using the VR flag hand. Cubes uncovered, which are not bombs, will show either a number or will be blank. Blanks mean no bombs directly surround that cube; while numbers indicate how many bombs border that cube. Use this information to uncover all non-bomb locations and you win the match! GL HF!If you enjoy logic & numbers, this is the game for you!

Game Modes

  • Campaign: Experience the story of Subvirtual while playing through 21 hand picked matches spread over 7 unique arenas ("All Arenas Bundle" item purchase NOT required for Campaign).
  • Custom Game: this match type is the "classic" experience. It is the playstyle used in the campaign mode. Allows player selections of both subgrid size (smol/medium/large) as well as difficulty (easy/medium/hard)
  • Memory Test: this match type is, as the name suggest, a memory game. Cubes will flash in order, adding 1 cube per round, and the player mush recover (fill) cubes in the same order that was flashed.
  • Bomb Sniffer: Need a break from the other game modes? This match type is impossible to lose! The subgrid contains only 1 bomb! You win when you blow up!

Additional Features

  • Unlockables: level up to unlock configurable options for each part of the flag & shovel VR hands with different colors & shaders. We're excited to see the custom combinations you come up with!
  • Distinct Arenas: all 7 of the arenas that are featured in the campaign present themselves with a distinct atmospheric vibe that gives each arena a unique sense of identity while you play. Which will be your favorite background aesthetic?
  • Atmospheric Music: Subvirtual's sound track was hand picked by Zivraye. A few tracks play on all arenas, but most arenas have 2-4 songs unique to that arena.
  • Statistics: see how many cubes you have uncovered, games won, and more!

*Subvirtual* seems like an intriguing twist on the classic Minesweeper formula, now brought into the VR space with a fresh 3D perspective. The concept is straightforward—clear the subgrid of cubes, avoid bombs, and use logic to uncover safe spots. However, the addition of VR gameplay really adds an extra layer of immersion and fun, allowing players to physically interact with the environment using shovel and flag hands. This makes the gameplay feel more hands-on and tactile, which could appeal to those looking for a more interactive puzzle experience. The story element, though abstract, introduces a narrative where players follow Zivraye across different arenas, which gives the game some context and purpose beyond just clearing grids. That said, the story seems a bit more background flavor than a central focus. Still, it adds a nice touch for players who want a bit of immersion while solving puzzles. The game modes offer variety, which is great for replayability. The campaign mode with 21 matches spread across seven distinct arenas gives players a solid progression path, while the custom game mode lets you fine-tune your experience with different subgrid sizes and difficulty leve…
