I've thought a lot about this game after buying it, to not write an emotional review. First of all, I bought all other Renka games, waited for this one and bought it as well. Why? Because despite using AI, he was a sole developer of indie games, with story that seemed to be interesting, nice graphics, and I just like small projects that are made with passion and aren't really about money. At first games you could notice the AI work, but it wasn't really jarring. Renka is a solo developer as well, I told myself, he just saves some time for himself to make a game using AI, and he doesn't put a high price on games, or tries to sell you AI-only thing, in my opinion it was pretty good. There were a few things, like Renka claiming he had a "human translator" for games, despite some very strange moments, complete misunderstanding of context, mistranslations, text not meaning what it actually does (and when you start seeing half of the game mechanics as misleading garbage, you start thinking if the "human translator" is actually real or it's just google translate) but I'm not gonna make assumptions about that. Previous Renka games had really lacking gameplay aspect. They were mi…

[後半に日本語レビューあり]
A quiet tactical deck-RTS where you shape the battlefield through unique units and deckbuilding
This is a strategy game that adopts a system in which units disappear after a certain duration, requiring you to rebuild the frontline through cost management and card cycling. Battles progress in real time, yet the pause and speed-adjustment features make it possible to make calm decisions even if you are unfamiliar with RTS. The deck-compression element of discarding cards to rotate the draw pile, as well as the process of forming synergies based on the abilities of specific characters, will be deeply enjoyable for players who like deckbuilding. Each character has unique cards and growth paths, and quiet drama segments are inserted between battles. Rather than flashy presentation, the structure emphasizes the aftertaste of gradually seeing the outlines of each character, with stage-by-stage progression and the story running gently in parallel. In terms of visuals, the cute artwork by Renka softens the overall atmosphere of the work, making it easier to stay motivated even in high-difficulty situations. I felt that it is a slightly unusual type of strategy ti…

Renka downfall. Decided to start using ai WAY too much, before it was understandable but now? its everywhere, and it sucks. The story Ive read through so far felt like an generated prompt, the music is mid, the character are generic both in design and writing. Ive been buying all Renka games so far despite their flaws for some but this is the last one, the previous games were more immersive

I want to like this game, but I just cannot. The game has bugs which don't let you do anything, and the only solution is to close (Alt + F4) and restart the game. Its story is interesting, but too short. Characters and visual is made with AI help, which is not a bad thing. BUT the consistency in style and overall graphics is broken. Clothes that go through each other, diffused body proportions and weird designs are the usual things to see in this game. Gameplay is kind of fun, but difficulty control is quirky. It can go from "Random bs go" to "I had nearly the whole round on pause, but still lost". Achievements are alright.
FOR MORE CARD AND BOARD GAMES FOLLOW US CARD GAME KING
Sun Halo is a narrative driven autobattler with deckbuilding and I can't say it's particularly strong with any of those parts. However, considering the approachable price, it's a decent game to dive into for a while. The core gameplay will have you summoning units and buffing them with the goal of outlasting the enemy waves. You will get add new pack of cards through recruiting heroes and even upgrading them, but neither the combos or the cards are particularly interesting. Yet, I can't say it's dull either (by autobattler standards). There is at least some thought needed in how you build your deck and when to play cards. Overall, the gameplay is fine, but nothing outstanding. The narrative starts out confusing, but it becomes more clear as you unlock more stories. It's serviceable and the English translation is good, but nothing groundbreaking. Overall, it's an easy to play, ok game with some narrative elements and a decent amount of polish.
