Yeah... Even after lowering the refresh rate of my monitor to 60hz, I was mostly just struggling to hit the notes. After that, I've fired up Duckstation and sure enough, I was playing a whole lot better. When I messed up, it actually felt it was on me. Not to mention, on the emulator I can display the game on fullscreen and my controller's rumble also works which is really helpful since it indicates if a pattern is about to change during a song. If you really want to play this game, just stick to emulating it through Duckstation. However, I don't think you should really bother with this game in general. You could do so much better even on the Playstation for rhythm games.

For people complaining about certain issues with the game: 1. Controls: Check the launcher before opening the game, it lets you pick between control schemes, default has the buttons on the numpad. If you change it to laptop controls, it puts them on I, J, K, L. 2. Off Beat: Change your monitor refresh rate to 60hz. The Space Channel Five: Part 2 Steam port has the same issue where if your refresh rate is above 60hz, the game itself runs at 2x speed while the audio stays the same, so it naturally desyncs. Changing it to 60hz makes your button presses fairly accurate to the tempo. Overall fun lil game.

Definitely something wrong with this version. I was struggling so bad with this steam version, then I switched to playstation and suddenly became a god at the game. Something HAS to be wrong with the timing. This game has been done dirty ever since it was first localized with the shovelware name and cover art, and it CONTINUES to be done dirty

Horrible port Horrible game lag input and as of upgrading to windows 11 all controls no longer work on Xbox, Playstation, and Keyboard.

i remember when i was very young, finding this paired with another bargain-bin Playstation game by the name of Ten Pin Alley. while i was more interested in low-quality bowling, this particular game was... something else entirely. and now, having been ported to Steam... literally nothing's changed, and it remains the bargain-bin nightmare that it was all those years ago, but somehow even more desynced from its original counterpart. if you ever find a functioning disc of this game, even that would be considered a mercy over playing this port. and if the looks of the protagonist are not enough to drive you away, the god-awful stereotypes that this game portrays definitely will. and for the love of god, lady, HOW THE HELL DO YOU EVEN PRONOUNCE EMOTES?!
