Despite taking place in a dystopian world where thunderstorm occurs occasionally and violently to the point people need to take shelter in their bunkers for weeks to avoid the crossfire. Despite over half of the human-populating people mutating into melon people from an experiment to sort food shortest. Despite people spending probably most of their time in their bunkers away from civilisation, isolated to form many meaningful relationships. Despite all of that love always finds a way through. This is what this wholeheartedly too-good-to-be-true wholesome romance novel is all about. Love always finds a way to exist. Even if it is with quirky flirtation, lighthearted sexual tension and cheeky banters. This game does a good job of making the couple compatible with each other even if it can feel too good to be true. Even so, it is always nice to experience love on a first date romance story without too much drama diminishing the tension. Just, let people be happy in peace plz, we don't have any forced drama all the time. Not this time around.

"Superstorm Melon Date" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is a somewhat surreal "dating sim" CYOA adventure e-book (not game) with the topic being, weirdly, a melon-human hybrid, who I presume is the authors imaginary girlfriend or something. This is not a genre of book anybody asked for, and certainly, not a game. Even if this was well written, it would not be popular, but as usual, here we have the typical high school anime club dropout fan-fiction tier writing and quite a lot of cringe. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollut…

I saw credits after 7 minutes. It was really weird and I didn't like it. But I like it enough to recommend it for others who think they might. If you think you might like to try it out, go ahead. You won't forget it. I know I won't...

I'm leaving a positive review but I'm not gonna finish the story. It feels too bizzare to me... Firstly, melon people feels strange... I'm too unsure of it's gender. It looks too in the middle or slightly masculine, which i feel too uncomfortable to find it enjoyable... But i recognize the quality of the work put into and I really apreciate the efforts of putting options frequently. And that they matters too (according to the game/story's description). But as i said... The fact it's "gender neutral" makes me uncomfortable as a hetero male (asexual aswell but it doesn't matter in this context).
