Temple of HUE

[h1]Before I played Temple of HUE, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good[/h1]

Pretty simple puzzle game with an interesting need to mix colors of flames to progress. Didn't even realize it only had 16 levels total. Not even 10 minutes with of play. For free, it's not bad, if ya just want to test yourself on how quick you can pick it up without much guidance for a short game.

A short puzzle game. I would love to have a longer game with these type of puzzles, though it is a nice amount for free.

Temple of Hue is a 2D retro pixel pathing puzzle where you must walk through a puzzle grid one square at a time, choosing the right path to light the torches in the correct order and then exit the level. There's floor tiles that break so you can only walk over them once, etc etc. The game features blocky, chunky retro pixel "art" instead of modern PC graphics. Gameplay is more like a mobile app or a Flash game than a dedicated PC game. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push the game below the standard needed for this to be recommended to PC gamers. I think the developer could do well releasing this on mobile app stores as a paid app, so they can get properly rewarded for thier work. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perh…

It's a short, but nice game. The only thing that bothers me is that some mechanics are not explained well, which leads to a lot of confusion. The goal is to light the golden fireplaces in the same colour to open the door. Lighting a fireplace consumes the torch that you're holding. In later levels, you can mix basic colours together to create a new colour. Some tiles break upon walking on, and some tiles can't hold torches of a certain colour or in general. There are 16 levels in total. Some mechanics are explained by text, but some have to be learned on your own. This is fine for the most part, but sometimes the game could do better on teaching mechanics. [spoiler]Level 4 perfectly shows that the black fireplaces don't need to be lit. Level 8 almost teaches you how to mix colours perfectly, but a stupid person like me walks up to the green fireplace and changes the colour of the torch. If the green flame was surrounded by holes, making it unreachable, it would have been perfect.[/spoiler] The difficulty curve is alright, but level 9 may give you some trouble.
