About Test of Fear | 肝試しの夜に
The player ventures into a secluded shrine deep within the mountains for a test of courage, and must explore the surroundings in an attempt to escape this eerie location.Abandoned mountain roads, shrine ruins, and old houses are filled with horror gimmicks that block the player’s path and shake their sanity. This game is optimized for short play sessions, offering a one-shot horror experience that can be completed in about 15–20 minutes. The game is presented in a first-person perspective, designed to gradually build a sense of unease as the player walks through the darkness, guided by ambient sounds and subtle visual cues.To enhance realism, the camera incorporates natural screen shake caused by walking and body movement, directly conveying the unstable footing and psychological tension to the player.A depth of field effect adds to the immersion by focusing on specific parts of the scene, blurring the background and creating a sense of depth. This also supports visual direction and sudden supernatural occurrences.Rather than relying solely on loud jump scares, the horror elements focus on slow-building tension through space and silence. No clear map or objective is presented during gameplay, leaving the player to rely on their own observations and intuition. With simple controls and a short runtime, this game is accessible even for horror game beginners, and is also perfect for those seeking a brief yet intense horror experience.

Unfortunately this game is unplayable in the current state. Some considerations should be made to the default settings as when game loads default settings render the game unplayable. Further the field of view literally made me sick to my stomach and gave me a migraine. I thought the atmosphere was compelling and it had potential to be a great game, but the execution and the FOV made it unplayable for me. Optimizing and adjusting the FOV and the flashlight intensity (should be brighter and more linear) could go a long way for the game to be playable. Currently cannot reccommend in the state the game is in, if updates occur, I will update my review.2 found this helpful
Played on Linux using Proton Exp, First off it has no Graphics Settings other then Resolution and Window Mode, Not even a Brightness Option, then you start the Game and see that it is so dark, even with the flashlight on it isn't Great, Looks nothing like the Screen Shots for Brightness, And last but not least the Head Bobbin is possible the worst I've ever seen and it gets 50 Times worse when you Run, and again no option to turn this off, so less then 10 Minutes i had to quit the Game due to the Head Bob and Motion Sickness, What i did manager to see (as to dark) the Graphics are not that Good, the Sound is Minimal but that might be a good thing for Jump Scares maybe?, Can't say anything about the Game Play as i did not play enough to answer that. If you suffer with motion sickness from Head Bobbin then don't try this Game. If it had some Graphics Options, Brightness Control, and be able to turn off that Head Bobbin it might be an okay Game, But due to these problems i cannot recommend this Game for anyone who suffers with motion sickness, or low end PC due to no settings or hates really Dark Games.2 found this helpful
kind of lost in the game. until you fall asleep .
too much head bobbing, pls , u have nice idea and theme and environment, let users remove motion blur and head bobbing. thnak you
The graphics were okay, and that's all the good I can say about this. It was way too short, had janky controls, bad 'scares', bad frame rate, etc. I couldn't recommend this game less, not even worth $2
the amount of "darkness" the map has is definitely top tier (and the graphics look pretty good too)
