Игра 'The Broston Saga' – это приятный и необременительный пиксельный платформер с элементами метроидвании. Бостон, конечно, не самый популярный сеттинг, но разработчики неплохо его обыграли, добавив юмора и своеобразного шарма. Графика в игре простая, но симпатичная, а музыкальное сопровождение хорошо поддерживает атмосферу. Геймплей довольно классический: бегаем, прыгаем, сражаемся с врагами. По мере прохождения открываются новые способности, позволяющие исследовать ранее недоступные локации. Боевая система не самая глубокая, но достаточно разнообразная благодаря различным видам оружия. Сюжет не блещет оригинальностью, но персонажи довольно запоминающиеся, а диалоги часто вызывают улыбку. Игра не очень сложная, но и не слишком легкая – баланс соблюден хорошо. RPG Maker strikes again! The Broston Saga is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This RPG Maker asset flip is basically a joke game, the RPG Maker urban tilesets were abused in such a way to make this nonsensical junior highschool fanfiction stuffed with ultra cringey meme references... it's no wonder gamers did not take any interest in this, and instead of making this go viral, gamers walked very quickly past it without making eye contact. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Li…
Crass humor isn't something I abhor, and can find it quite funny when done right. The problem with this game, and so many others like it, is that the humor isn't done well, and it's just shoved into our faces. It's just a big, giant meme of a game, and without any real substance, why bother playing it when you can just share memes with friends?
