About The Heilwald Loophole

You awaken in a dingy storage room in a pile of rubble and dust. Observing your surroundings you notice a massive hole in the ceiling. How curious. Dazed from the fall and mildy confused you venture into the twisted depths of the Heilwald Klinikum...

About the Game
The Heilwald Loophole takes the classic survival horror trope of being stuck in a run down hospital/asylum and being chased by crazed nurses and doctors but adds an important twist:
It is impossible to die.
Every action, every decision merely opens up a new pathway to venture down leading you deeper into the Heilwald Klinikum.
How far does it go? And what is that god damn loophole about?

I have never written a review for a game before but this game was too good to not write a review for. This game is very unique, not only in it's graphics but also its story, a story about medical care gone wrong and the feeling of being put through medical treatment you do not want but are forced to go through anyways. This game hits especially close if you have experienced some kind of forced medical treatment that you did not want. Having gone through that myself, the games story hit me especially hard. Combined with the PSX style graphics and the gibberish of the other characters voices, the experience feels truly surreal almost like a fever dream but without the overstimulation. The game also does a great job at delivering a horror experience with characters chasing you, dark rooms, and the general feeling of unease. That being said, the game also has multiple depressing elements to it with neglected patients, the soundtrack, constant raining, and the feeling of being trapped in a place of misery. As you try to escape, you will need to solve multiple puzzles along the way which requires some thinking and going back, looking for different routes, etc. but it was never …

Absurd, crunchy and deeply disturbing... if that sounds like something you'd like, you'll love the fantastically written and executed The Heilwald Loophole with its unique characters and abstract story. It's one of those indie horrors to just get lost in for a few hours and massage those parts of your brain that day-to-day life doesn't touch.

Its a good game very simple but also challenging in some areas. the story is very open with lore so you can come to your own conclusions so if your thinking of getting this game get it and go down the loophole, once again.

Maybe I shouldn't've played this an hour before wanting to go to bed on a workday but it just kept going and not in a good way for me. I don't know why people are saying this is so unique, it's *fine* but jesus christ guys game has ps1 graphics must be good!! It is not worth a 97% and I hate all of you

This game has become a favourite of mine, I played it originally closer to release but decided to 100% it recently. This led me to discovering the small speedrun community for it and how fun and beginner friendly the speedrun for this game is. Mechanically unique, incredible story, interesting art direction it is well worth the 11.50CAD I spent on it those years ago and even if you don't intend to speed run it I think it's worth the experience!
