About The Lightbringer

The Lightbringer is a poetic adventure/puzzle platformer with light combat elements, set in a beautiful world claimed by a vile corruption. Guided by your sister’s spirit, you must prevail where she could not. Cleanse the corruption, become The Lightbringer.

The world is under siege by a malicious corruption, targeting the ancient monoliths that gave power and light to these lands. As the chosen one, you have the ability to harness pure light energy from the air, energy that will aid you in cleansing the monoliths to bring back their light.

Explore, jump and fight your way through each level while gathering light motes. Every level functions like its own little world, and you’ll need to venture off the beaten path to find enough to cleanse the level’s monolith.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Old School Adventure
The Lightbringer draws a lot of inspiration from earlier Zelda games, and is all about invoking that feeling of wanting to explore every nook and cranny.
  • Semi-isometric Gameplay
With a rotatable camera in an isometric view, you’ll need to look at things from many different angles in order to find solutions to your obstacles. Remember: There’s often more than meets the eye…
  • A poetic journey
Your sister’s spirit guides your entire journey, narrating the gameplay entirely in verse.
  • Hazardous Dungeons
Explore dark dungeons full of danger. Watch out for traps, secrets and that pesky slime!

This game is... Weird to recommend It's a platformer game with some charm, the movement is nice but is not "too" nice, sometimes you die having multiple hearts just because you fell on a weird place The combat feels unfinished, and they don't explain things too well, some bosses are unfair having some bugs and hitboxes that don't correpsond The puzzles are cool, but if you are like me and want to collect everything on a level if you can, you'll find yourself repeating a lot of levels Some achievements are bugged and pop when they shouldn't, and some objects pick up can have scale issues (picking and dropping an object makes it smaller each time for example) The camera in general is quite bad, sometimes blocking the view entirely of what you want to see, and making you get damaged unfairly All of those are problems that can be allowed, it doesn't make the game a "bad experience", but it keeps it from being great The game also could have some UI improvements with buttons that don't feel unresponsive at times or easier navigation, or even having more graphical settings It's a 6.5 on a 10 scale

Counter to what other reviews think, I felt the controls were quite tight and when moving the camera was able to make most platforms easily. If you've played Crash Bandicoot or similar, you'll have no problems. The game isn't particularly hard unless you're trying to 100%. I was using an Xbox controller, perhaps the other reviews were using mouse and keyboard? It took me about 6 hours to defeat the final boss, so the game was definitely worth the £1 I paid for it. Although there isn't a checkpoint system, falling to your death will reset your position and cost 1 heart, so I felt it was forgiving, especially when you pick up hearts in the level. However, I think there might be a bug where you can lose all health at once causing you to need to restart the whole level, but this only happened to me once or twice. The graphics and level design are polished. Sound and music is fair. The combat is a bit repetitive, but the boss fights are interesting although not particularly challenging.

You have to die again and again to finish the game. Still Loved it.

Doesn't work on deck, for me... sad but oh well. Listed in store as "unknown". Usually an unknown will work correctly on deck in my experience, for smaller size games. This one I installed, opened, started first level then got stuck floating in the air and never touched the ground, just spinning the camera. I tried changing some settings and buttons, etc. that didn't work and usually doesn't. The only setting you should have to change is from a mouse/keyboard to controller. For anyone who doesn't know, you can get a refund. It's a good idea to open any game you buy and test it out. You can play up to 2 hours, if you don't like it, go to account purchase history.

The Lightbringer is a gentle and atmospheric puzzle-platformer from Rock Square Thunder, published by Silver Lining Interactive. Rather than relying on fast reflexes or punishing combat, it frames its adventure around a world swallowed by corruption and the guiding voice of a lost sister who urges the protagonist forward. The premise is simple but effective: you are tasked with purging the land of darkness by harnessing the power of light, navigating through a series of levels that combine platforming, light combat, and environmental puzzles. What sets it apart is not the scale of its systems, but the way it attempts to blend mechanics with a poetic, almost meditative narrative tone. Each stage of the journey is designed less like a gauntlet and more like a thoughtful puzzle box. Areas are filled with switches to activate, moving platforms to ride, and hidden collectibles to seek out, all tied together with a steady rhythm that favors careful exploration over constant pressure. The game encourages you to slow down, look around, and piece together how to progress rather than racing from point A to point B. Secrets are tucked into corners for observant players, and the design reward…
