You navigate the absurd lives of modern art world figures, managing exhibitions and dodging museum gatekeepers in a genre-bending simulator that blurs the line between player, NPC, and artwork. The Pasture combines experimental mechanics with over 30 real Russian contemporary artworks to create a darkly funny experience where success means getting your exhibit displayed—or dying trying.
The Pasture is a product of endless self-reflection of modern games, where all the different genres and control styles are constantly flowing one into another, making it hard sometimes to even tell where exactly is the player, has he finished the game, is he a protagonist or only a hostage of the incorrectly programmed NPC.
The Pasture is a simulator of art life and people living it. One of the concepts of this world: “die or have your own exhibit at a big museum” allows a player to experience numerous funny and sometimes weird emotions.
The game mechanic in The Pasture is totally nontrivial. It may seem very simple, but yet it gives you a whole range of feelings: from hopelessness before the museum staff and famous artists to a vague understanding that it’s the implicit methods in this game that will allow you to “move forward”.
The game includes more than 30 pieces of contemporary Russian art, so you will have a great opportunity to fill out possible gaps in your education.

It resists almost every expectation typically associated with games—there are no clear goals, no consistent progression system, and very little guidance. Instead, it invites players into a fragmented, surreal space where meaning is not delivered but implied, and where interpretation becomes the primary form of engagement. From the beginning, the game establishes a tone of ambiguity. You are placed into a world that resembles a distorted version of contemporary artistic life, where environments, characters, and interactions feel intentionally disjointed. Rather than presenting a clear path forward, the game allows you to move freely through various scenarios, each one offering its own strange logic and internal rhythm. Another shovelware asset flip. You know, I will give this one pass for being memorably terrible. You would never touch a hot stove twice right? Thats how this game feels when I see it in my library.
