THE APOCALYPSE IS HERE …
… SO IT’S TIME TO PARTY LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW!
Rise of the Chubtan is a chaotic and fast paced fighting game with constant looming death for all the players. Knock your enemies into pools of acid, spinning saw blades or even under a speeding train.
You are a Mayan god, fighting your brothers for the souls of mankind. Battle around the world in different arenas, containing deadly traps. The gods, immortal and equal in strength, are not able to directly harm each other. Utilize the traps of the arenas to obliterate your foes…for a brief while.

The Rise of Chubtan gives eager players another excuse to let out their aggression on friends in a local deathmatch game. While the Mayan setting stands out, the foretold apocalypse must not have been caused by too much in-game content. Chubtan doesn’t rise so much as he kind of just leans up. The focus of the game is less about killing and more about score, and some of the traps are more likely to punish careless players than be used for murder. The traps demand blood and will continue firing and resetting until someone is killed. Players die instantly from traps, and there are a few pickups that spawn on each map that can offer small boosts like speed or invincibility. Traps can stack on each other with each switch hit, which can make it an interesting game of survival as chao…21 found this helpful

Basically everything Super Smash Bros did to work, this fails at. No fun characters, no polish, poor, drab retro visuals... it's easy to see why this never caught on. So, "The Rise of Chubtan" is a dead multiplayer game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! The chief cause of failure is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst multiplayer centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the m…2 found this helpful
