This Is Not The End

So this is a text-based piece of interactive fiction, it looks unimpressive, and as such I most likely would have skipped it if I hadn't gotten a free copy through my curator. If I somehow had ended up paying this price for it, though, I don't think I would have regretted it. In the state I played it in, it had very basic programming, a few cute pictures, some unlocks, and - as the name would suggest - lots of endings to explore. LOTS of endings. Too many endings to finish in one session without getting bored in my case, but I did come back to it several times and probably will finish it. If it gets any attention on here then I'll be annoyed at the inevitable criticism for being "not really a game", because this should be clear from its description. The writing is really the central feature, and I appreciated its humour and creativity. "This is not the end" is what you play around with if you liked those "Choose your own adventure" books and appreciate the extra comfort of easy navigation, relaxing music tracks to choose from, and a few extra features. This is Not The End has many different paths and a well built world. I bought this game on a whim and it scratched my itch for a quick CYOA while managing to be funny and endearing. Solid 7/10

It's a really adorable game and quite funny. Worth the price. The only think missing is a possibility to save the game (Or if there is one, to make the save button more visible).

I won this game when the creator held a sweepstakes for keys on reddit. I know this kind of game may not have mass appeal. But it's worth a look. It's a text based endeavor with a some cheery illustrations being placed at different points. It reads kind of like fun fiction. But you do come across some interesting themes or what I like to consider earnestness or truth. In essence, I try to find real self-expression and proof of introspection. I try to find those things in all works, and when I don't I feel let down. But there's definitely some to be found here, though perhaps a bit sparse. It does do a good job of being very entertaining and understands that its main appeal lies within the inherent fun nature of the idea of being a slime. I don't know if that's supposed to be a metaphor for real humans or not. In a way, we all begin by partly being... slime. I know, that's probably not the connotation the creator was going for. Haha.
