Tigey's Gift

To begin with, I would really like to apologies to the person who gave me the key to this game. I have completely forgotten that I was supposed to review it and got distracted by some other interesting titles. That is the first time something like this happens and I hope it is also the last. This part aside, let us finally talk about [b]Tigey's Gift[/b] in more detail. I have very few good things to say about it. On the one hand, everything is quite basic: you shoot bubbles and try to make them hit correct combinations, get specific scores and are rewarded with pictures of cats and their shenanigans. But on the other hand, there is little to no explanation on how to do it correctly. This is because the tutorial is very confusing. You are forced to read descriptions while shooting the bubbles and there is no option to pause. I dont like this game from a technical standpoint. The buttons look like standard html buttons, the audio settings dont work, or at least only adjust a small portion of the audio. There are no settings at all, there is no tutorial on how to play. The gameplay is very simple, not engaging at all and honestly just boring. There is nothing else to do other then the simple gameplay loop and some short stories on the cats you get as a reward for reaching certain scores. Overall it just isnt worth playing to me, however it also is clear that someone put their heart into creating this and not necessarily made this to be a super good game, but rather to show love to the cats he had in the past years and for that it fullfills its purpose. For me though, the only positive is that the drawings are cute.

[i]Tigey's Gift[/i] is a ping pong, arcade-type game developed and published by Ten Ten-Ten cats' House. It narrates the story of Tigey, a kitten afflicted with a disease that ultimately results in her passing. The developer wanted to make a game in honor of Tigey's memory, so thus, we have [i]Tigey's Gift[/i]. The story itself describes snippets of Tigey's life from her birth all the way to her passing. Parts of the story are unlocked as you score a certain number of points in the game itself. For spoiler reasons, I won't give away more than that although I'll give my thoughts on the story a bit later in this review. As the game is more gameplay focused, I'll move onto that aspect. Basically, what you have to do is use your mouse to shoot and match 5 different balls that fall into the playground. The balls vary from catnip to water to food. They're items that you'd usually need to take care of a cat. The objective is to not let the playground overflow with these balls since mismatched balls result in them being cracked and remaining in the playground (although after a certain amount of time on the timer, a row of them will disappear). [h2]Chinese with English Subtitles[/h2] A basic but hectic bubble-bubble or "POP" Tetris type game where high scores unlock cute little kitten and cat related stories. [b]Illustrated Stories[/b] Stories are narrated in a child friendly and natural Chinese voice with English subtitles, which actually works quite well. The story segments unlock as achievements which you get by playing the pop game. A game inspired by the real life sad and happy moments in a house which is totally full of cats. (Yes, one of the cats is called Happy, why not!) Note that children may find some of the stories of loss disturbing to read, but also re-assuring. :-) You can watch each story clip you unlock completely separate to the bubble collecting game itself. [b]Indie[/b] Ultimately a totally solo effort, which lacks the polish a publisher would add, and using a simple game engine, which means there are sometimes delays between screens. There are thus a few aspects to the game experience which I hope can be changed once it releases.
