About Tree Trunk Brook
Tree Trunk Brook is a tiny adventure game about hiking during the pandemic.
Follow trail blazes, take photos, make friends, and find lost items.
The visitor center is closed, but the trail is open. Social distancing is in effect, and masks are required.
You can be nice to strangers by being a good listener, or by returning their lost items.
You can stay in touch with your best friend who can’t come hiking with you anymore.
You can’t take anything away from anywhere (except for the litter on the ground).
It’s short and replayable! It’s about getting better acquainted with friendly strangers by seeing them repeatedly.
The environments are sourced from photographs and pieced together like a collage. The trails draw inspiration from hikes in the Northeastern US (specifically NJ, NY, CT, MA). We wanted the place to feel realistic, idyllic, and familiar like a nostalgic memory, all at the same time.

this is a lovely little game and i find it interesting to play in 2024. im one of those who believe covid isn't over, but i can't deny 2020 was special. in my case, it was special in a pretty bad way. i'm sure i would've loved to find this game back then, but i think it's a very good de-stressor today too. what this game captures particularly well is that feeling i get on hikes or simple walks, of behind in my own head. also this emotional state i was in during lockdown. doing things alone that i'd usually do with friends, having somewhat dry text conversations with them to catch up, having conversations with complete strangers, all things i'd do when i had the energy to. ambiance is great too. sound is important to relaxing experiences. this was done well. im kind of stunned to find out that it didn't make more of a splash. ah well. props to the devs2 found this helpful
If you're looking for a game to chill with, this is a good one. There isn't much in terms of story, but I don't think it needs to be. I think the people that will especially like this game are those who don't have much access to nature. I think it'll help fill that void temporarily. The environments don't feel repetitive as each path you can hike feels distinct. The achievements are also pretty easy to get, and if you're looking for something to add to your list of perfect games on your profile, this will help too. Although, it'll take some time as this is also a slow game. Overall, it's a good game to play and I recommend trying it out.1 found this helpful

Very cozy. I like the mixed media aesthetic. It took me a bit to get all the achievements because one of them is RNG-based.
