5/10 A Banished-like econ simulator in Christmas setting. Good: - free - there is some humor So-so: - English isn't that good - 3D models are low-poly and textures are of dull colors which gives the game a low-budget look. I can imagine how nice it could look with colorful buildings and decorations. Even the hospital-themed "Theme Hospital" by Bullfrog from late 1990s looked much better - UI is unpolished, buttons are too small - no sfx to accompany UI actions, building construction etc Bad: - the onboarding is pretty messy - I didn't like the time pressure. It's especially annoying when you're just starting with the game and don't fully know its rules. The first few levels where the player sees some buildings for the first time should be without timers Overall, it's a dull-looking and messy econ sim that kinda works but isn't really fun. I'd give it a 4/10 but since it's free, +1, which makes it 5/10 and still an upvote (no "neutral" vote on Steam). "Until the Night" is an unusual but sincerely made looking attempt to make a ripoff of a strategy/city builder/factory game, except you're exploiting elf labour up at the North Pole. But we all know Santa gets his toys from China now. What do you do in the game? It's a slightly dumbed down city/town builder, slap down buildings, get the game loop circling, build new buildings and expand... it's a limited game built on a limited premise, unfortunately, and you'd be better off playing something like Factorio or Frostpunk or something. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a f…

Gets an upvote because it's free and doesn't crash on launch. Made in Unity and has the same problems most Uniity games by beginner devs have... unpolished and unoptimized. Even with the low poly objects, the GPU gets tasked hard very early. Once your field of view gets populated your low-end system will slog to a screeching halt.
