Urban Trial Playground

Urban Trial Playground is another one of these physics-based bike game that doesn't bring anything new to the genre. Its mechanics are basic, its graphics mediocre at best, and it's pretty short... What does it have going for it then ? It takes place under the warm sun of California, and that's what I liked about it. Beaches, luxury hotels, parks and airports : everything looks better under the sun. These are the locations you'll visit while trying to keep your balance and reach the end of the levels. There are 27 of those, but you'll have to go through them twice, as they each have a Time Attack and a Score Attack version. Time Attack mode is what it sounds like : get to the end as fast as you can. There are tokens adding or substracting time that make it a little more interesting, because you'll get a better time if you learn the levels. Score Attack mode will have you chain backflips, high jumps and wheelies to keep your combo going. It's pretty fun, thanks to the mostly consistent physics, and you can clearly feel your own progression as you get better and reach higher multipliers. Urban Trial Playground leaves the chaotic city with its gritty atmosphere back, and moves to California. It is certainly a huge difference of the game's mood and theme. I can't say if it's better or worse, it doesn't have to be either. But it is something new which is a good thing. I'd probably be pissed if they called this " Urban Trial Freestyle 2 ", so changing the name was a good idea. I also find the new gameplay refreshing. Bike controls have been improved for better balancing, there are both rear and front brakes and the biker can jump or duck to avoid getting hit. The Stunt Mode has been replaced by the Freestyle Mode. I think this one is an improvement because you can basically use the whole level to perform tricks and stunts of your choice to accumulate points. The Time Trial is similar to the previous game but now there are pick-ups which can be collected which either improve or worsen the score. There are now 2 playable characters, 6 bikes to choose from and more customization options. I like the neon wheels and that you can put stickers or change the color of the bike. weird horrific air break

Its decent no better than the previus one Urban Trial Freestyle, which had better level design, but still fun. The gameplay seems easy compared to the previous one as well, until 2 challenge levels that the difficulty spike is just ridiculous: -Single wheelie challenge and -Combo addict, Combo addict it can be done but it will require a decent amount of trials if you are stuck in this one do wheele then skid and repeat while you are in the straight. for the wheelie challange no f&·$ clue. The game is simpler can be finnish in 5h if not for the 2 challange. You will not find no obstacles like in regular trials (only 1 or 2 level in the challange list, wich they are short), Also there is one mechanic that i'm not soo sure if the previous one was like this but if you just pull the joystic up it will just automatically jump if both wheels are touching the ground(if you keep it up it will keep jumping forever) i dont like this feature becames more annoying than helpfull, is not longer like if you lower the rider down by pushing down the joystick and then rapidly move up to make the inertia to jump (I might be confusing it to Trials from ubisoft).
