War Mines: WW2 is a ripoff of Minesweeper (Microsoft, 1990) with some window dressing and a progressive WW2 themed story... but what Minesweeper didn't need was window dressing, and once you dismiss that, it's just Minesweeper. Which you can play for free in web browsers, as a mobile app, there's probably a hundred ways to play Minesweeper for free. But these guys want you to pay them cash money for that free game experience. Nice. Now, before you start with "This review looks like it's copy + pasted from the War Mines: WW1 review!", I'll stop you there. Because it is. Which is only fair since War Mines: WW2 is copy and pasted from War Mines: WW1. There's nothing new or different to mention because it's the exact same game. So the same game, if it's being reviewed objectively by the same reviewer, and to the same standards, should result in the same review, right? This copy + paste method of game development makes a lot of sense if you're running a shovelware cash grab... why dump the game on Steam once when you can dump the same game on Steam twice? Smart thinking... if you have absolutely no regard for the kind of harm this pollution causes to the Steam marketpl…6 found this helpful

Excellent, excellent Mine Sweeper game. It's got some great graphics and a WWII theme. I would definitely buy more of these.1 found this helpful
Similar to the first game, although better. Better art, better storytelling, better gameplay. Now you won't die on first click. I really enjoyed learning history from these kinds of media.
A pretty good reimagining of Minesweeper, but at the end of the day it's still Minesweeper. The environments were very well done however, and the interesting layouts of some of the level added some complexity that's missing from the regular Minesweeper variants.
About twenty minutes in, and this simply cannot be recommended. It all seems to work well enough, but it just isn't very good. The main concept is the layer of history over the top, but that layer is wafer thin and often bizarre.| I set up an airfield in the infamous deserts of France, and there seem to be a lot of American's at the battle of Stalingrad. What the heck? That would be forgivable if the game was any good, but the puzzles are really poor. The vast majority of the time your initial click gives you no information to advance with. So far I have never seen a square with a number higher than three in it, and the vast majority is ones. Not a lot to work with, logic wise. The war there adds nothing at all to the game, either. Your missions are about clearing minefields, and that is the end of how the war fits into the game. No special moves or abilities, no upgrades, nothing to make the game more interesting that regular minesweeper, and puzzles so bland and poorly made it is a lot less interesting. Even on sale, this simply wasn't worth it. Pass. ADDENDUM: 43 minutes, start to finish. All the way to the end the puzzles were small and lackluster. Worst of all, it often put …
