About Why Do Boys Play Games?
Why Do Boys Play Games? is a turn-based tactical strategy game that allows you to interact with your opponents when you aren't battling in an attempt to simulate the camaraderie and competition of an actual fantasy football league. You begin by creating a character, completing an optional tutorial, and drafting a custom team of players. You then take those players into battle. Each player has distinct moves and passive abilities, many of which can synergize with each other.As you continue through the weeks, you continually upgrade your team on the path to the championship. Along the way you can grow closer to your league-mates by walking throughout the clubhouse and interacting with them between games.Defeating enemies in battle unlocks further interactions revealing players' motivations and other story elements.As you compete for the championship you will at the same time uncover a plot that could shake the very foundations of Gamehood.

A love letter to fantasy football, friendship, and turn based tactics. Full of clever humor in the character interactions, player names, and abilities. There is a level of thoughtfulness and care that is palpable and it makes you feel invested in your journey to win the league. It is a simple game on its surface (I just made it to Week 4) but you can see synergies and strategies develop with each match. Maybe you want to run a quick pass, check down type offense, maybe you shore up your defenses with blockers... or maybe you send out your tight ends to run drag routes through the enemy team. There is a good level of variety and experimentation to be had. I got long pass nuked by "Jaden Hertz" and immediately knew I wanted to start building a pocket passer/deep ball threat. I am excited to see how the rest of the game plays out. I think there is a good foundation here to build off of. Congratulations on your first release, Colin!
