You get to learn about the history & culture of kite flying in Korea, but more importantly, you get to fly these amazing kites. The controls for flying are fun, easy to learn, and immersive. There's plenty of scenic spots in Korea that you're transported to to fly these kites. Unfortunately, I did find the UI a little difficult to navigate. Also, there was this strange graphical glitch for me where the image in my VR headset was very shakey. That was strange because I was getting a steady 90 fps on my RTX 3080 so I'm not sure what the issue was but it may cause nausea for some (luckily, not for me). Game is running on the Unity Engine. There is no turning at all unfortunately. There are no graphical settings either. You can play comfortably seated ... as long as you have a swivel chair. Wings of The KITE in sky is a free to play VR game about Korean kite flying. Worked on my Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. Maybe try this, if you like flying kites.

Wings of The KITE in sky is a very unusual VR experience because it takes something as simple as a traditional kite and turns it into an interactive activity. The game is based on Korea's traditional Bangpaeyeon kite, and I liked how different that feels from the usual VR experiences that focus on combat, shooting or exploration. It has a much calmer identity and feels almost like a small cultural demonstration mixed with a game. The main attraction is controlling the kite in three dimensional space. I enjoyed the sense of actually guiding it through the air rather than simply watching it move on its own. The VR controls make the experience more immersive, especially when I start getting a feel for how the kite responds to my movements. There is a nice satisfaction that comes from gradually becoming more comfortable with something that initially feels unfamiliar. I also appreciate the educational side. Because the experience is based specifically on Bangpaeyeon, it gives me an opportunity to engage with a traditional form of Korean craft and play in a way that feels interactive instead of purely informational.
