Withering Realms

i got all the achievements :)

Easily the best souls-like out there. It could use more time to cook and it looks like the dev is cookin.
It's easily worth the money right now though.
Can't wait for the soundtrack to hit steam.

I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone who likes souls-like games. -Build variety is HUGE and you can do everything from magic, melee, guns, flamethrowers and so on. - The story is good, written with good characters, good lore, mystery and payoffs. I loved it the whole way through. - Don't knock it for Early Access, the developer released a FINISHED game, the Early Access part is simply added features like modifiers to your playthrough, more detailed endings, and other features. You can 'complete' the game without those things. - This was 100%'d in one run, but it was a joy to do. Difficult challenges, fun quest lines, interesting characters and puzzles, my god how full this game was. I bought Withering Realms on a whim while waiting from Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen to release, and I cannot believe that I was considering NOT getting this game because the artstyle 'looked like' I wouldn't like it. How wrong I was, this is an absolute GEM, it plays like a hidden smash hit from the PS2 era, and it looks like one too. It doesn't overstay its welcome, it doesn't ask terribly much of you, and every level / unlock you find feels like a small or large step towards growing yo…

I've never wanted to stay up until 6am more than now, to finish this game. It is still early access but you can finish it all the way through. The balancing still needs some work but overall this game is amazing, must play.

The game is oozing with charm and passion. It is a perfect example that top tier graphics cannot compete with artistic direction and style. Also have to give props for this being an early access game that is actually complete main story wise, rather than the countless games that are half finished with a developer saying "trust me bro, it'll get finished." Also this was made by 1 person and has a banging soundtrack....why are you still reading this and not playing already?

Having played Withering Rooms, I have faith in this project's potential. The foundation is here (lore, music, style) it just needs more story (and content, in general), more polish and a way to blend gameplay styles in a unique way like its predecessor did. Still, I do recommend this game and will eagerly wait for its release. Love and support to indie developers!
