CS2's Second Major of 2026 Lands in Singapore

Counter-Strike 2 closes its year in Singapore. The PGL Major Singapore 2026 runs from 25 November to 13 December — 32 teams, a $1,250,000 prize pool, and the first time the country has ever hosted a Counter-Strike Major.

The playoffs land at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, a 12,000-seat arena that has hosted everything from boxing to K-pop and now gets its first Major bracket.

The format, briefly

Three qualifying stages feed a playoff bracket, in the structure Valve Majors have used since the CS2 era began: teams work through Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 before the arena stage. Nineteen days is a long tournament by any standard, and the attrition is part of the test.

What happened at the year's first Major

To understand the stakes in Singapore, you have to look back at Cologne in June.

The IEM Cologne Major 2026 ran from 2 to 21 June, with playoffs at the LANXESS Arena and the same $1.25 million pool. Team Falcons won it, beating FURIA 3-0 in the grand final — Mirage 13-8, Anubis 13-8, Inferno 13-8. A clean sweep in a Major final is rare enough to be worth stating plainly.

It was Falcons' first Counter-Strike Major, and it was the tournament where Nikola "NiKo" Kovač finally won one. NiKo has been one of the best players in the world for the better part of a decade without a Major to show for it; that particular narrative is now closed. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov took MVP.

ESL also reported Cologne as the most-watched Counter-Strike tournament of all time. Whatever you think of the state of the game, that number is not ambiguous.

Why Singapore matters

Two Majors a year means a team can define a season in June and lose it in December. Falcons arrive as the reigning champions and, on Cologne form, the team to beat — but a 3-0 in June guarantees nothing in a 32-team field five months later.

There's also the region. Counter-Strike's centre of gravity has been European for its entire competitive life, with occasional excursions to Brazil and North America. Taking the year's second Major to Southeast Asia is a deliberate bet on an audience Valve's ecosystem has historically underserved.

If you want to actually play it

Counter-Strike 2 is free. That is the whole barrier to entry: download it and you're playing the same game, on the same maps, that will decide $1.25 million in December.

Watching a Major is also the cheapest way to understand why people still play a twenty-five-year-old game about planting a bomb in a warehouse.
