DeathWatchers

The multiplayer sequel to Deathwatch that you already knew wouldn't be good. Maybe you're checking out Deathwatchers because you enjoyed Phasmophobia. This game will not provide you nearly the quality experience. Instead of gif watching like its first incarnation, everything in Deathwatchers - player movement, items, interacting, etc. - it all feels stiff. Character models constantly glitch out so you can't be sure your teammates are logged into the match, menus are clunky, and there's a chance translation is poor. The entire experience is ruined by terrible interactive function. I'm bummed. There was a lot of potential here with establishing tone, setting, ambiance, and more that the developer just... passed up.

I used to like this game as the concept is super fun. A spot the difference ghost hunting game? Sign me up! Unfortunately I came back to show off this game to a friend, about a year or so after last playing it, only to discover it does not function anymore. The game has two devices that help with logging the differences and fixing some of them. Somehow an update was launched at some point that causes them to cease functioning after one use. I tried to do manual logging, but could no longer bring up my pda thing to do that either. The dev appears to have fully abandoned this game. They were giving the game plenty of updates around may of last year, and then went silent until October of the same year. After that it looks like they moved onto another project. Do not buy this game. It was a great concept that was then broken and abandoned.

Is it kinda low rez? Yeah. Is it kinda janky? Yeah. Is it fun and actually have some good jumpscares? Also yeah. Don't go in thinking it's a AAA game because it's not BUT it is fun. I would totally say it's worth it at full price if you go in with that mindset. It doesn't feel lazy, it doesn't feel like a cash grab, it's honestly fun and I've met some cool people online. If you're bored of Phas, I'd say give this a go!
