Orbital Gear, developed and published by Night Node, is a multiplayer arena shooter that builds its entire identity around a single, standout idea: combat governed by shifting gravity. Instead of traditional flat arenas, matches take place across clusters of small planets and structures, each with its own gravitational pull. This transforms movement into the defining skill, forcing players to constantly reorient themselves as they run along curved surfaces, leap between celestial bodies, and fight from angles that would be impossible in a standard shooter. Movement is the heart of the experience, and mastering it is essential. Orbital Gear is a free side scrolling shooter where I control a mech moving around planets and using their gravity to fly through space. That gravity system is easily the most interesting thing about the game because I am not just running around on a flat surface. I can jump between planets, build momentum and use their gravity to move around the map in ways that feel quite different from a normal shooter. The movement is probably my favourite part. At first it feels a little strange because I have to understand how the planets pull me around, but once I get used to it, moving quickly between them becomes really satisfying. I can use the momentum to escape attacks, chase someone down or get into a better position before firing. The weapons give me plenty of options too. I can choose two weapons from a selection of twelve, and they all behave differently. There are normal guns, explosives, close range weapons and stranger options that interact with the environment. I also have utilities such as shields, mines, turrets and boosters, so I can build a loadout around how I want to fight. The main multiplayer modes are Deathmatch and Orbital Warfare.
