Pegfinity

It's okay. Might be more fun if it leaned into the chaos towards the end of the tech tree, or to make skill shots more rewarding, but I found myself mostly paying attention to the launcher after getting about halfway through the game. It was like a bag of potato chips - kind of enjoyable, but in the end, not very satiating.

While Pegfinity is a unique take on an incremental game, it ends up being more of a sloggy grind than anything else. It is far too linear and lacking in upgrade diversity, most unlockable peg types are just "the same thing but it's bigger" while the abusrd cost scaling ruins whatever satisfying feelings you should have over the progress you made. I really don't get why one of the selling points of this game is "combos" when they're rare. Power-ups hardly interact with one another, and most of whatever combos you do manage are a result of a peg's effects knocking the ball into another special peg, not because the peg's special effect activated another special peg. It's just disappointing. Towards the end especially, all of the upgrades blend together as you slowly work towards the final upgrade and complete the game. It slaps you in the face especially hard as you work to beat the game, as unlocking the final upgrade first requires you to purchase all of the near-useless expensive upgrades before it. All in all, Pegfinity's graphics and concepts are cool, but they're executed way too poorly.

Pegfinity was just the game I needed. Short, sweet, and simple to play. No lore to retain, no meta to follow, just good ol' fun-filled, thrill-seeking, absolutely sensational pegging action. I have never in my life played a game with pegging THIS good. The sound that the pegs make when you blast your balls all over them is a sensation to the ears. Now, be warned: The more you upgrade your kit, the more overstimulating it feels to all your senses (things get LOUD), but man, it just feels amazing nonetheless. Turn your brain off, relax your muscles to the soothing music, and peg away! My only complaint is that the sound effect for the fireflies tingles my ears in all the wrong ways. Sixteen hours well spent. I'll gloat to the whole world about how proud I am to be a Pegging Master,

Short but good for passing a few hours on night shift work.
