About Wild Ice

The Great Frost changed everything.Every day it gets colder. Those who freeze return as frost zombies drawn to the last pockets of warmth. In the small town of Coldwater, a scattered network of experimental furnaces built to warm people through the worst winters is now the last hope of surviving. But turning them on calls to the frost and what lurks within.Play solo or couch co-op as small town hockey players Max and Finley, as you activate furnaces across the world and hold the line against waves of frost zombies using a combination of slap shots, trap building and fisticuffs to both bring (and bring back) the heat!

EXPLORE A FROZEN OPEN WORLD

Travel across a frozen landscape in search of furnaces. Discover new areas, stay warm, find items, character mods, new gear, hidden crows (caw caw) and take on optional side quests from other survivors.

HOCKEY FUELED ACTION TOWER DEFENSE

Build and upgrade hockey-inspired traps, fortify choke points, and funnel enemies as you protect the heat, and survive escalating waves of frost zombies. There will be no sitting on the bench once the horde is unleashed, you're as much a part of the play as your traps. Use slapshots, slashing and body checks to take down any frost zombies that slip past your defenses.

SURVIVE TOGETHER - PLAY SOLO OR SPLITSCREEN CO-OP

Play solo and choose between two characters, Max (the scavenger) and Finley (the tank) with different perks and play styles, or play together for double the chaos, double the fun!

OTHER FEATURES

  • Multiple Difficulty Modes - From Rookie to Veteran, choose a difficulty that fits your skill level.
  • Replayability - Every furnace features a scoring system, giving you plenty of chances for new plays and epic comebacks!
  • Character Customization - Deck out your characters in different gear.
  • Story - Follow Max and Finley's journey from small-town underdogs to unlikely heroes as they uncover the mystery behind the endless frost.
  • Game Loop - A blend of open-world exploration, action combat, and tower defense.

What a bizarre little find in my games calendar. I'm neither a fan of hockey nor of ice scating and yet when I read the review that said this game is canadian orcs must die I decided to give it a shot. Let me get the one bad thing about this game out of the way, which is the bug that sometimes just stops the game from continueing after you cleared a wave. This bug is the only reason I haven't finished the story yet, everything else is pretty awesome. What I can tell you is that this game is a little more than just OMD on ice because even though you only get a hand full of traps the "levels" are all places in a mid-sized open world. This means you can use your traps outside of arenas to fight enemies in the overworld or to build platforms and the exploration is a much appreciated pace breaker between franticly shooting pucks at the frosties. Body checking them into each other and over the edge of cliffs is about as much fun as dropkicking zombies in dying light btw. Wild Ice showed me something I didn't know I wanted which I now crave more of which is a third person action adventure that's also a tower defense game with loot and quests and... that's quite a word salad but here …

The hockey tower defense game I didn't know I needed! After just finishing the game I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Wild Ice, I've been itching for any kind of hockey game on PC and I can honestly say that I've spent time just skating around with the music off to appreciate the crispness of the sounds. This would be my first tower defense game but it was solid and doable on single player.

Fantastic tower D mixed with a hockey game with an exploration game. It almost has resident evil vibe in a way, like few people, lots of monsters, gotta gather stuff thats few and far in between. just the vibe in general. the map is huge, im 3 hours into this and havent unlocked much yet, its just so big. 9/10. its a very enjoyable game

Great game. Has a lot of heart and work put into the game. Fun to play a hockey version of Orcs Must Die with fully animated cutscenes and voice acting.

I haven't had a chance to give this a proper review because I have not had the time to really play it. I can already tell that this game has tons of passion from the creators. The gameplay is fun and unique, The voice acting is good as well. I kind of wish they would make a full hockey game just like this except maybe add fun elements like spell checks where you transform other players in to goblins or something. Maybe kncuckle pucks like from the mighty ducks. Something like that would be amazing, but actual hockey. Like fantasy hockey. OMG this would be amazing with how they did the current mechanics, which honestly are better than the NHL games. This would be great. Great team, well worth the money here. Ill update this with something better when I play more.
