Midnight Outlaw: 6 Hours to Sun Up, developed by Merscom and Babylon and published by Cosmi Valusoft, stands as a clear product of its time—born during the height of early-2000s street-racing enthusiasm, when neon-lit drag races, swaggering underground crews, and nitrous-fueled highway duels dominated gaming culture. Though now available on Steam, the game very much reflects its mid-2000s budget PC roots, presenting a dramatic, cinematic framing of illegal nighttime racing condensed into a single adrenaline-charged night. The premise is simple but effective: as an up-and-coming street racer seeking money, reputation, and machinery powerful enough to survive until sunrise, you must climb through a series of events, rival encounters, and story beats that stitch the racing together. The framing suggests high stakes and dangerous momentum, even if the execution rarely reaches that intensity. Structurally, the game blends traditional circuit races, sprint challenges, police escapes, and quarter-mile drags. On paper, this variety should create a constantly shifting experience, but the repetition becomes noticeable early on. Track layouts and environments tend to reappear with slightly a…

Ok I know this game is bad but I still wanted to try it because I am bored and being $5 wasn't too bad, but I had issues running the game on W10 which is fair enough games like these tends to have issues so I made a Windows XP VM and installed one core API to install Steam on XP to try to run it with no result I tried installing it from the game ISO which kept crashing during installation and I just had a thought hey why not try it on the Steam Deck...which it works very well besides the cutscenes which blew my mind how it works mostly fine but it can't run on any Windows despite being made for it

★★★☆☆ Good!
Racing
The "RPM Tuning" (original name of the game) refers to the game's main draw, which is the ability to customize your cars like crazy. Each car can be tweaked mechanically and aesthetically with all sorts of body kits, wheels, engines, exhaust systems, and such, all of which can be bought and placed on your car. The actual racing doesn't do much to salvage the game. The one thing you can't complain about are the controls, which handle reasonably well. There are some issues with drifts spinning out, even when you aren't really traveling all that fast, and the collision detection is random, to say the least. But otherwise, the cars handle fine. The most obnoxious thing about races involves the blatantly obvious rubber-band artificial intelligence. It actually works both ways, though. If you're way behind, the game will let you catch up to your opponents. As a result, the positive aspects have more weight overall than the negative aspects. But “RPM Tuning” is just as far away from been a masterpiece, as it's far away from being called a failure, so that we find ourselves pretty much in the middle of the field.

[i]The PC version of 'RPM Tuning' of…

By today's standards, the game is crap - there's no doubt about it. However, back when it came out, it was a good, budget-friendly alternative to NFS Underground. RPM Tuning / Midnight Outlaw: 6 Hours to SunUp offers extensive options for customizing and tuning cars. The driving physics can be erratic, but they’re also challenging and force you to take corners properly to avoid skidding. The music effectively encourages dynamic driving, and the storyline - though not particularly complex - has its good moments (I still have fond memories of Burk Lewis character; I love all the cutscenes featuring him). Ultimately, there aren’t many cars included, the graphics haven’t been impressive for a long time, and the numerous bugs can wear on the player. Nevertheless, it’s worth giving this game a chance, especially since the community has released many fixes for it.
