About Drift Type C

✦ AI summary

Drift Type C is an uncompromising physics-based racing sim with 50+ real-spec cars and a massive hand-crafted world featuring diverse challenges from tofu delivery to rally races and off-road exploration. It solves drifting's fundamental problem—that sliding is actually slower—with the Hypervesicle, a time-altering gift that rewards skillful drifting without breaking realistic physics.

No air control.
No Nitrous.
No Brake Assist.
No Nonsense.

Drift Type C is a Real Physics Driving Game. Drive 50+ real spec cars right from the factory, with exact specifications and a detailed handling model accounting for everything from power to weight to differential setup to factory tire compound and alignment settings.

Oh, side note. You’ll be using these uncompromised sim cars to visit the Time Realm and meet the God of Time, who needs your help. Defeat 13 Warriors and 13 Ghosts to free Him.

Do Lots of Stuff

Off-roading. Multi-stage rally races. Dorifuto Batadu. Drive on trays. Flagging. Deliver tofu. DIY Space Gymkhana. Text while driving. Drive a bus for some reason. Drive in daytime or night through assorted weather conditions. Visit nine biomes and an alternate Realm with different air density affecting aerodynamics. And so many jumps!

Big world. Really big.

Drift Type C is a curated experience in an infinite, hybrid-procedurally generated world. That means the 100+ miles of road were hand-built for the best driving experience. The cities were all built in-game and events all developed for the best gameplay. Yet, you could travel thousands of miles through beautiful terrain in any direction before….. Actually I don’t know what happens when you go too far.

Drifting Games: The Problem

Behold the HYPERVESICLE, a gift from the God of Time. Drifting is generally slower compared to other driving styles, so to get the best time, you couldn’t drift… which is boring. Points-based systems are too complicated in some ways, too simple in others, and always too easy to exploit. Many drifting games solve this problem by altering the vehicle physics so that drifting is actually faster, but that kind of defeats the purpose doesn’t it? But when sliding sideways in Drift Type C, the Hypervesicle slows the race timer without altering the true-to-life physics in any way. Master it, and set a two second lap time in a two minute race.

Creative Mode

Everything you see here was built in-game. Build your own roads, cities, and events. Deploy over 1000 prefabs. Apply over 20 terrain surfaces with their own particle and skid effects and traction profiles.

The main character: The Track

There's a perfect segment for every car. A left you can cut, a right sweeper, and just a moment with all four wheels off the ground. There's a flow… a balance… and you have to carry the inertia just right the whole time. Mess it up, and there's always a catastrophic crash. But if you go flat out and get it perfect, it's the most rewarding moment in gaming. Most AAA racing games with dozens of tracks have five or six of these. Drift Type C has about thirty. That's because the roads are all organic, built as the procedurally generated terrain demands just like real mountain roads.

NO MICROTRANSACTIONS.

We have real, organic progression. Behold our four-car mystery spinner, where you unlock new cars by completing events instead of by paying real money - a novel invention from the 1990s that has since been replaced in other games by trying to get more out of you.

WARNING: Once you start the game for the first time, it starts generating your world on a non SSD HD it took me about an hour to play the game on startup. A drifting game with an open world experience, the times are very challenging at the start of the game, you need to weight shift to get around corners effectively. The problem is the randomly generated tracks cut in to the landscape something fierce and the times you need to achieve are very tough even on normal. I think once I unlock a new car the game may get a bit easier but its difficult to tell, the ground clearance of your starter car is very low and cant even clear curbs very well. Played for 7 and a half hours and only just got past the tutorials mainly because the cone sections of the SpaceKata a fabulously buggy. I would recommend the DEVS do a demo of the game with a pre generated world (or have it as an option) and give more time on easier difficulties. I may have gotten really unlucky with my world gen because one of my Missions Climb A Little has broken checkpoints the are rotated 90 clockwise and go up the mountain in a way I can't get too. I will change my review when more patches come out for the game, but s…

I only just started with the game and I like it so far; it's though and challenging, even on easy modes :) I did not have a big issue with the initial loading/generating/unpacking times. I've a 10yo system (but with a RTX 2070 Super) and equally old disks (not SSD, at least not where this game was installed by default) and it was maybe 5 minutes or so the first time. Since I can't figure out a way to contact the dev, besides all the things like, here are my UX PITA points: [list] [*] can't use the xbox controller d-pad to navigate in the menu. I unsuccessfully tried re-mapping it in the options but d-pad does nothing. It's not a big thing but just would feel more natural (to me, anyways) [*] I can't figure out how to get back to the main menu. Once I choose e.g. "School" I am trapped and go only choose other school events but can't figure out going back to the main menu to e.g. Story mode. I've to completely exit it. Because from within "School", main menu brings you back to "exit game|reset|options|play" and play goes right into school ?! [*] The camera panning behind the car when turning. This is my biggest gripe. The camera reacts _too_ quickly for my taste. Comparing it to o…
