About Cosmos Crash VR

Cosmos Crash – The first person shooting & puzzle VR game of Viriver Studio is now online.

In this game, you’ll be a space pilot with your ship trapped by orbits in the depths of the vast universe. By firing high-tech marbles, you need to make matches of three or more same-colored marble in the orbit before it reaches your ship. This early access version contains 10 different orbits waiting for you, think fast and aim smart to solve these problems!

Spatial 3D orbit

The 3D spatial orbits are the biggest highlight of Cosmos Crash. Surrounded by various shapes of orbits (crown, pipe, balance, gear, etc), the game brings you immersive experience as if you are just there in the universe, giving full play to the superiority of virtual reality.

Strategy

Each of the 10 orbits has different strategies to clear all the marbles. Special orbit like accelerating orbit (speeding up the pass-by marbles) and balance shaped orbit (requires clarity of both side orbit) appears as the game progressed.

Special marbles

If you're good enough to rack up 3 or more combos, you’ll get special marbles that'll help you on your way. The special effect of that marble depends on the color of the last match you made. You’ll have 6 types of special marbles to choose from.

Moreover

We also prepared some fancy extra contents in the gameplay. For example, if you clear particular orbit area, the lanterns around the area will be lit, making the whole universe interesting!

Will be happy to change this review if things change but as of now the game won't start on my Oculus Rift. According to the developer you have to use the Xbox controller but I tried that and no luck there either. As of now I have to recommend staying away from this until you can actually play the game.

TL;DR: It's ZUMA, but in VR. I enjoyed ZUMA, and I got this on sale for 5 bucks and it was more than worth it. PROS: -It's ZUMA. But in VR. They nailed that pretty well. I believe this is the only VR game that offers that style of gameplay. -They make use of it being 360-degrees (i.e. sometimes the tracks go behind you, above you, below you). I wasn't sure if this was true from the trailers. -Balls look nice and there are interesting powerups. CONS: -No "ball-shifting" animation when you shoot into the line. This is just a little bit jarring, especially when you miss (see following point) -I'm a Zuma expert, and, for the most part they nailed the feel of the game. However, something feels JUST *slightly* off about how far ahead you have to aim in order to get the ball in the right spot. Like, if I aim a green ball at another green ball directly, and pull the trigger, I expect them to be next to each other. But, if you're aiming at the latter half of the green ball you're aiming at, sometimes it'll go one ball behind it. It just feels slightly off, and that can be frustrating. -Menus are not *perfectly* polished, but better than a LOT of independent games. PRO-TIP: -Y…

The controls did not work at all. The Play button could not be selected. I uninstalled this game.

It's fine for the price, but it lacks polish. It could be a lot better with not that much effort. The aiming feels inaccurate, the ball randomly lands in the wrong position. It's a clone of zuma down to the sound effects, except they are missing a few polished elements that made zuma satisfying. Like the measuring effect when you clear a level, or the balls making certain noises. The special effects are mandatory and can trip you up, I wish I oculd switch colours and store special effects. The special effects look too similar, and the balls move fast so you don't have time to look closely at them. It's hard to see the balls as they are far away. It doesn't utilize 3D space as much as I had hoped. As it is, it feels like a gamejam game. I wish I could play with fewer colours, slower balls and more time to think and line up combos. I wish the balls would not move when there is a gap behind them like in Zuma.

It's a completely competent, very well made VR implementation of Zuma. Things look and sound nice, it actually makes good use of being 3D. If you're curious to play VR Zuma, go for it!
