I.F.O. is a fun little endless arcade shmup in an old school handheld art style. The game is inspired by Time Pilot from the arcade. Two buttons for rotating your plane clockwise and counterclockwise. Press both buttons to dash, it will also activate the drill. Shoot UFOs and safe animals with all kinds of weapons you can upgrade by picking up aliens. When you kill UFOs in short succession you'll increase your combo for a higher score with a max of 40. After a certain amount of kills you'll get a warning for an animal abduction in progress. It's either a sheep or a cow with a letter on it referring to the weapon you'll get when you save it. A cow will restore a life. A sheep will grant you a quarter of a heart, when you get 4 heart pieces you get an extra life and your max lives will increase by one. Some of the weapons are great like the Machine Gun, 3-Way and Homing Missile, others are alright like the Back Shot, Drill and Laser. The Floating Mines and the Rocket are bit of a pain. What you can do is of course ignore weapons you don't like but you can also stay in the vicinity while killing UFOs to make the subsequent abduction spawn quicker and rescue the animals in short suc…

A Game & Watch styled game that deserves to be commended for what it is, a nostalgic throwback to the early 1980ies, Very simple gameplay but not necessarily very easy either.

Looks cute, horrible controls. On a gamepad, you steer using, not the stick, but the triggers. Absolutely idiotic decision. This game isn't worth a dollar, much less the $3 they're charging for it. Removed it from my account. Simplistic doesn't have to mean bad, but here, it definitely does.

I.F.O is a small but distinctive arcade shooter that takes inspiration from the era of dedicated LCD handheld games rather than simply copying the familiar pixel-art style of classic consoles. Developed by Total Battery and published by Turtle Cream, it builds its entire identity around simplicity, quick sessions, and score chasing. The result is an unusual little shooter that can be understood within minutes but becomes considerably more demanding when survival and high scores enter the equation. The premise is appropriately uncomplicated. Aliens have appeared in flying saucers and are abducting animals, leaving the player to take control of a small aircraft and fight back. There is no elaborate storyline or lengthy introduction to get through. The game quickly places the player into the action, where destroying UFOs, rescuing animals, avoiding danger, and staying alive become the priorities. This direct approach fits the arcade format extremely well because every mechanic exists primarily to keep the action moving. Movement is one of the more interesting aspects of the design. Rather than giving the player a complicated collection of commands, I.F.O relies on a deliberately res…

That game could have been a Game & Watch game and would be wonderful with the 2 buttons. It even tells the time (why would you check on the game, tho).
