genuinely my comfort game. Got it in a bundle on itch, loved it so much i bought it again. The story is rad as hell, the vibes are So Fresh & touching, the characters/dialogue can be so genuinely funny. it's a challenging delicious lil artsy piece that i can't stop replaying. There's still builds i haven't thunk up yet. Love you Haque, merry christmas (& yes, you can throw big rock)
Haque is an indie gem covered in delightful glitchy filth. It's a roguelike with simultaneous turn-based gameplay that you control the pace of. The soundtrack, OOOOOOOOH it HITS, boi. The acoustic guitar backed by this haunting synth works with the unique visual presentation to make a style of its own. I want more Haque-core things. I've been doing a run each night before bed to see how far I can Haque it. My first character was Roland Goldmuscle, a beefy human fighter. It wasn't until my second night playing that I realized the characters are completely randomly generated. I will always remember Roland, This game was made with a lot of humor and heart and I highly recommend it.
A true hidden gem, even amongst its own little niche genre, haque is a fun traditional roguelike that i always come back to over and over again.

Great game! I just wish the controls were fixed for the steamdeck. This game is a steal for $1.49
I've played this a lot from itch.io. I originally got the game with a big bundle. Reviewing here because it's awesome! If you like traditional roguelikes, this is a very fun and compact little game. The starting species/class combos allow for a lot of variation on somewhat simple gameplay. It's just plain satisfying, though, with nice little sfx and small animations. It doesn't have a ton of tracks but the music is pretty good. There's enough strategy in using your tools that you do have to think a bit to win. There are at least a few really good builds and a bunch of viable abilities. There's a story ending you can reach once which is neat. After that, you can crank up the difficulty and try a few modifiers. Don't forget you can turn off the grime effect that overlays the screen. Personally even though it is easier, I like the boons and pet equips a lot. The dev said he liked to play on 50% difficulty slider with both boon/maluses at character select as well, fwiw.
