Love Esquire - RPG/Dating Sim/Visual Novel

It is absolutely misleading having "Nudity" and "Sexual Content" in the content tags. There is none in the base game. Nor is there a mod made by the devs. The only H mod is done by a fan and the animation is severely lacking in quality for the mod. If i wanted to play a PG13 dating sim I wouldn't pick a game with tags like this.

This game has been made a 100 times before. Buy the right gifts to build affection with waifus, build generic stats to 'fight' inane battles that look like final fantasy on screenshots, all this to chase unsatisfying hentai payouts. Finish the game once for each girl to get a harem. It's a cliché of a stereotype, and a colossal waste of time. The graphic are good, the voices are ok but uneven. The writing is uterly generic but at least not badly translated japanese. The characters are typical and unsurprising. By default there is no H payout, you have to install a mod to get a weak, vanilla, boring conclusion. The second to second gameplay is just slow and painful, with transitions, traning and dialog being slow, repetitious and tedious. There were some effort deployed to make newgame+ a bit more palatable, but it's still ponderous and slow. The whole thing is agressively grindy and time wasting. I couldn't be bothered. So all in all this is as unoriginal and boring as possible, and is savagely overpriced for what it is. Just know what to expect.

The voice acting and the comedic deliveries has endeared me. As someone who likes repetitive tasks and seeing my stats grow I really like this game, not only that I think while simple the characters in the game are charming and brings it to life. I especially like how even if the game doesn't take itself seriously at times, they still have really authentic down to earth moments that don't make light of a character's grief. Squire starts as a generic nobody who only wants to get the ladies to an underdog that you're willing to root for either to see him lose or succeed. Anyways, great game.

Love Esquire is a hybrid visual novel/RPG. The RPG mechanics are interesting as you control only the support character, though the novelty wears off relatively quickly. The focus is on the JRPG-style fantasy setting, and the main love interests all hit certain tropes to be expected from such a setting, including a haughty princess, exotic foreign princess, milk-maid villager, warrior tomboy, and bookish clergywoman. The game's combat is simplistic, but may be just good enough to keep you occupied between visual novel segments. It can be "solved" relatively easily, as the breakpoints in terms of damage and healing often make the correct combat choice obvious. That said, it's a nice break between dialogues. There are 5 main paths (love interests) with 3 endings each (good, friendship, bad). As stated, there are 5 tropey love interests, but all are well voiced and have enough nuance to make the 5 story paths entertaining to play through to the end. There are some additional point-and-click hidden items to otherwise occupy your time.
